I have replace all the warn out springs and buffers but i still dont know if using a .357 brush to clean the bore whould be safe to the rifle due to its age?

any help sigestions for this rife would be nice

thanks

You will not hurt a .351" barrel with a brass brush meant for .357". Or bigger. I use a .40 caliber brush in my .38-55 and .45 in the .40-65.

Any chance of seeing a photo of your 1907? I love these darn things - here are two of mine" a standard and a "Dillinger gun" (as originally made by Hyman Lebman) like those recovered when he was captured in Tucson in January of 1934.

levallois:

Have you ever used one for hunting? I keep hearing how they are underpowered for hunting, yet some people seem to think the world of using a levergun in 357 for deer even.

Brad:

It won't hurt using a brush, any steel is much harder than a bronze bore brush. You can always use a nylon brush, or powerful solvents like Barnes CR-10 or Sweets 7.62 Solvent if you still have reservations. Keep the stainles brushes out of it though. I only use those "Tornado" brushes for chrome lined shotgun barrels that have a lot of plastic in them.

RSVP2RIP - I haven't used one for hunting but others have and all say that the round appears to hit alot harder than the paper ballistics suggest that it should. Good out to 100 yards.

Since we are on a 351wsl thread - don't want to hijack - Does anyone have the bullet mold number for the 180gr bullets? Or you guys just sizing a .355 round?

There is a Lyman mold #350319 that will produce an appropriate 180 gr bullet but it is hard to find. Some guys are sizing 357/38 bullets but I'm afraid that I don't know all the details and how many steps it takes. I haven't started reloading yet but I bought some lead cast .351 bullets - 175 gr - from Western Bullet Co that should do the trick once I get going.
