Just bought a new box (taking some newbies for their second shooting trip), and noticed the ammo was different.

The box has "Improved Accuracy Bullet" stamped on the top, but otherwise looks the same.

The cartridge, looks rather different.

The bullet is copper colored (like their 50 round boxes of ammo). The case, is slightly different shaped, and appears to be the same as the cases in their 50 round boxes.

Seems Winchester heard the complaints about the ammo (i.e. poor accuracy, and difficulty in some guns with reliability due to different shaped case), and just boxed up their regular 9mm bullets into 100 round loose boxes.

If I can rustle up a digital camera, I'll snap pictures (of their old 50 round ammo, new 100 round VP, and old 100 round VP). If anyone has a chronograph, they might run to Walmart, and see if they're more consistent than the old stuff.

Thanks for the report, I'll have to see if the new stuff in in my area yet.

The box w/the "Improved Accuracy Bullet" sticker I bought recently still has the old bullet in it, or, rather, 100 of them. Same case as well. I've seen posts elsewhere of folks buying the stickered box and finding the old bullet.

Maybe they started using the new boxes and are starting to phase in the new ammo?

May be going to the range tom., I will pick some up to see if I do.

Found a friend with a Chronograph.

Should have a report on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I've always been a fan of WWB and have shot alot of it, but the last value-pac of .45 I bought was ridiculously filthy...dirtiest ammo I've ever used. It still functioned 100%, but was definately different than previous boxes.

Picked up a box today to shoot and it is indeed the new copper jacket bullet in the boxes I saw at walmart :)

Seemed like I had less fliers, but of course I wasnt using my normal gun.

how bout Blazer Brass

I tried some Blazer Brass from Wal-Mart and 2 50-round boxes came out cheaper than the 100 round value pack in .45 acp.

The blazer seemed hotter and was more accurate then the win

Yeah I just noticed yesterday that they carry blazer now. Two 50rd boxes were about a dollar more than the 100rd WWB. Haven't had a chance to try it yet, though.

I got two boxes of the Blazer Brass a couple of weeks ago, They worked wonderfully in my CZ's.

Try Wolf ammo. You'll be happy to use the filthy WWB .45.

I tired 100 rounds of BB in my kimber polymer and had several failures to feed, and it felt a little weaker to me. Ran fine with magtech and WWB. It does seem to burn a little cleaner though. I just changed my recoil spring and magsprings, so I'm gonna have to try it again.

Havent tried it in my thompson yet, ironicly thats what I got it for...

Now will they listen to MY request?
Cases

Sven-
The local Walmart will order cases of it for me but I have to pay for it upfront at the time of the order. As unorganized as they are I am not paying for anything upfront unless of course it gets shipped to my office :)

Oh, as far as cases are concerned, I've seen a case of 9mm valuepacks in the cabinet at my local wal-mart on a few occasions. Just one though, and never .45 or .40, just 9x19. I dont know if they rarely stock it or if it gets sold quick.

Wonder how long until I see it...

...I'm still waiting to see the green Remington value packs of JHP.

getting impatient in Iowa City, IA...

havent seen it up here in CR at either locations. they dont even stock WWB personal protection not that I would buy that anymore.

leaning towards other brands of ammo and handloading over winchester. last batch I shot in 40S&W was absolute filth. when it went on paper it went low. think I will go with anything but WWB.

I've been using the "improved" Winchester white box ammo for about a month now. I've already gone through a case, have 2 more cases at home, and another on the way.

Good stuff for indoor range time, and at only a dime per shot... I like it.

I never had a problem with the 9mm VP in my Sig P228; I had a few problems with the .40S&W VP in my CZ 75B until I determined that I probably shouldn't shoot 165gr. ammo in that gun anyway. I think Winchester should use a 180 gr. bullet in their .40 S&W VP. But since the Blazer Brass ammo became avalable, I've been using it in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP as general range use ammo. I prefer the Blazer Brass over the VP stuff, since I think it is more consistant..
