wolf primers?

Anyone know what the difference between wolf small rifle, or wolf small rifle .223? I have been loading with wolf small rifle magnums but I got a 1000 of the .223 ones and want to know whats up

Not for sure, but they are proably like the CCI #41 military primers. Just a little harder to help prevent slam fires.

They are suppose to be the magnum with harder cup. Most of mine were duds! Really, i wouldnt take any of the Wolf .223's if someone gave them to me. Their regular sr and srm primers are ok though.

I have loaded and shot 1000+ rounds of .223 in my AR all were loaded with Wolf 223 primers I have had no problems.

I've loaded a bit over 6k rounds with the Wolf .223 Rem primers, and shot 5400 of them and have experienced exactly two failed primers. Also have loaded 3k 9mm rounds with Wolf small pistol, shot 2000 of them and have had no failures. I'm happy with them. As a note, I bought this batch of primers from Wideners back when they were the only primers available.

SMALL RIFLE PRIMER (part # QQQSR) - Used as a standard small rifle primer. Perfect for the 30 carbine and 223 standard loads. Many people use this primer in bench and other loads for the 223. This primer is a copper colored primer.

SMALL RIFLE MAGNUM PRIMER (part# QQQSRM) - This is the primer we had before for use in the 5.56 loads and hot 223 loads. A thick cup for the higher pressure. We sold a lot of these primers earlier this year. The new lot is brass colored instead of nickel.

SMALL RIFLE 223 (part # QQQSR223) NEW NEW This is the newest primer available in the Wolf line. It is ever so slightly hotter than the small rifle magnum primer and it comes with a brass colored thick cup. This primer can be used in place of the SRM primer or used when a different powder is used that is hard to ignite.

Wolf primers look great. They are made in Russia and packaged in 100 rd trays in 1000 sleeves and 5000 cases. They are packed anvil up so no "primer flipping" required. They are ALL BRASS and our tests indicate excellent quality at a lower price than other primers.

Wolf Small Rifle Magnum primers have the same power as regular Wolf Small Rifle primers, but the cup is a little thicker and less sensitive.

You see the large is now the medium large and extra large is now the large. The Grande . . . . . . Extra large would have been confusing so . . . do you want fries with that.

All i know is that i sent pictures of the yellow powder that came out of quite a few .223 cases to the place Powder Valley gets them and they gladly refunded my money after looking at them. It happened with all three of my guns. Two savage bolts and a Bushmaster. I will still use their regular and mag small rifle primers since i have a bunch of them but not till (if ever) I run out of cci and winchester.

I had probably 10% of regular Wolf Small Rifle primers in an AR .223 pierce with moderate loads.

I have had none of 2000 or so Wolf Small Rifle Magnum pierce.
