Being the Lee Loadmaster is so problematic, do you think they will come out with a new model that is better in design?
I have a Lee Classic Cast Turret which I really like but am thinking about a progressive press.
I don't have the $$$ for a Dillon or Hornady.Thanks for input.

The largest confrontation I had with my Loadmaster was learning to "DO IT" the Loadmaster way. It is a really well thought out piece of machinery and works wonderfully well once I learned its way of doing the job. Do not be intimidated by what you have heard, it is a good machine and the support you may or may not need is readily available. Get one!!!!!!!!!!

i also run a loadmaster and love it.

i love the auto indexing, and case feeder.

i think they are more suited to folks that enjoy tinkering with machinery.

its a very smooth press, and fast, fast, fast. i can load 100 .223 rounds in about 15 minutes at a very casual rate.

the rounds all come off the press within 3/1000ths in overall length, which is every bit as good as my buds rcbs pro2000, and with the case feeding and auto indexing, quite a bit faster.

if your capable of maintaining it and keeping it clean, its a great machine.

I received my loadmaster as a gift from my wife. I really dont need a progressive, I use it as a indexing turret. I actually took all the feeding stuff off of it as well as the priming system. I really like my setup now that it does only what I want, but Im probably insulting the press and what it is capable of.

I only load rifle by the way. .270, .308, .223, but I do have everything for 40 S&W I just dont shoot my pistols enough to load for it yet.

i dont know about the loadmaster. but in general, lee products seem to be a good bang for the buck. they do have a few items that are not very good. like their chincy little scale, and i am not very fond of their case trimmers. they do work, but not like they are supposed to (at least in my mind). someday, i will get a forster set up.

Happy Camper With Lee Products

Well Heres My 2 cents worth I Started With Lyman Equipment in 1976 And Piddled With Reloading For Years Different Dies Scales Etc.. I Changed Over To All Lee When Our Son Moved Out About 3 Yrs Ago And My Wife Let Me Have The ENTIRE ROOM!!!:):):) For My Reloading/TV/Internet:) Room. I Will Have To Agree Lee Scale,And Power Dribbler,And Zip Trim Are Lets Just Say A Little Bit Chesseezee. As Far As Lee Dies Pistol And Rifle Are Excellant Lee Loaders I Have 3 My Load-Master Is Just WOW!!(after you learn I just call it Leeology)On It I Can Take My Time And Still Load Over 600 rds a hour
I load Rifle Rds On Single Stage With Great Results. Ive Had Very Little Problems With Lee Products Or Customer Service. I"m A Happy Camper

I have 3 Lee presses. Including a Loadmaster. It can be a little quirky until you get it setup and dialed in. Here's why I made my choice.

Hornady LNL AP
Base 325.00
Dies 35.00
Shell plate 25.00
Case feeder 350.00
Total Way over 700 dollars
Free 1000 bullets - 120.00
New Total Way over 550 dollars

Loadmaster - 240.00 everything above included for one price.

I am at 24k rounds and counting. No major issues yet...

MidwayUSA clearance had Loadmaster with 40S&W dies for $195 this week.

If you are completely inept and highly emotional when you fail, you will complain bitterly about Lee products. The other 95% of us Lee owners are pleased.

When it comes to reloading presses, I can't see me buying anything but a Lee. They have great equipment at reasonable prices. I don't know who is tops but I bet Lee is close to the top when it comes to who has sold the most reloading equipment.

I do have a shotgun shell reloader that is a Ponsness Warren 375 but I haven't started loading shotshell yet. People tell me it is a great press. I was given to me and I will start loading shot shells after hunting season (mid January).
