I just got back from the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, Illinois, and all i can say is wow. I participated in the SCTP trap shoot these past couple of days. I am still in awe of the whole set up they got there. The people there were all very friendly, and the booth workers were more than willing to talk with people about their different offerings. If you ever get the opportunity to go down there I strongly reccommend it, you'll have a blast.

Are there any pistol or rifle ranges at it? My understanding is that it was pretty much just shotgun sports.

They have a pistol and rifle range there as well as a place for cowboy action shooting. I didn't work up the ambition to wander over there because it was close to 100 there at noon, but for the most part it caters mostly to shotguns.

Huh. It looks like it's run by the state too, judging by their website. Not seeing any rifle/pistol ranges listed other than cowboy.

You are correct, the Illinois DNR runs the whole thing with funding from the state. I just wish the Wisconsin DNR would follow suit with something similar.

I was under the impression that rifle/pistol ranges were not there. I wonder if there were some, if they were temporary for the competition? My dad lives very close, and the lack of rifle/pistol is a bummer to me.
