California!!! Sorry for the caps. I've only lived in ND and CA (I did spend a few months in VA) so I can't speak for the rest fo the states. I live in CA now and it...it...:cuss::cuss::cuss: frustrates me.

I don't know if IL belongs in second place on this list. We don't have concealed carry, we have to have a FOID card, but at least we do not have to have a permit or to register each weapon, and we have no banned weapons list. Of course, if you live in Chicago, which includes over half of the people in the state, you are not allowed to even own a handgun.

I know CT is screwy in some ways, but no where near as screwy as some of the states out there... My carry piece goes almost anywhere with me...

New Jersey. Come, see for yourself (state slogan)

I thought NJ was a shoe-in for this one. You need a permit for a BB gun here. Posession of a slingshot is a felony, and it doesn't even have to have one of those evil wrist-braces. No pepper spray, etc. Then, there is my personal favorite, the Smart-Gun Law. When the first smart gun becomes available to the public, all other types of handgun will be illegal for sale in the Land of Lautenbourg. There is also a proposed ban on .60 caliber muzzle loading muskets. This will prevent Muslim terrorists, posing as Revolutionary War re-enactors, from shooting down planes at Newark International.

Ironic though it may be, the ONLY type of weapon that is legal to carry in NJ, is a gun. You just can't get a permit to do so, unless you're a friend of our non-seatbelt wearing governor.

Even if all of the current anti-gun bills were to pass, Colorado would STILL be a better state for gun rights than Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Virginia or Pennsylvania.

We have un fettered NFA ownership, CCW with very little restrictions (no-guns signs carry no legal weight, you can carry into banks, churches, bars ...you can drink and carry, you can CCW in your car Vermont/Alaska style, no registration, no waiting periods)

Most of the above does apply to Virginia. We're working on the bar thing. We have a very agressive citizens rights organization (VCDL). We can open carry without a permit. Where we've got Colorado beat is that we were able to get state pre-emption enacted so no localities can pass bans - no "Denver only" kind of crap.

So if you've got a stick and a rubber band, they can get you on "constructive intent"?

Probably not. But, if your kid finds a "Y" shaped stick, and an old bicycle inner tube, and connects the two, he's a felon. I kid you not.
