WTK: Beretta 92 United We Stand

Might be picking up a very nice United We Stand edition 92F(s). Per the Blue Book gun value, it states that the 92F was produced in 2001 with 2001 units, and 3900 more in late 2001-2002 in 92FS.

Is there any way to differentiate the F from the FS designation? Is there a source online with the serial number range for this special edition and indicate the difference? Last question, would you shoot this gun if you bought it in very nice shape? Thanks

look at the underside of the slide and if there's a small groove that goes about half the length of the slide then it's an FS. this groove matches up with the special enlarged hammer pin and serves as a emergency slide stop in the unlikely case your slide has snapped in two. it's a totally unnecessary "feature" that only lends credence to the old weak slide accusations.

there's a lot of factors in there. what are your other options? sounds like you got the blue book so how much is it worth?

I'll have to hit up Beretta forum, thanks for the suggestion. When I searched for the name of this special edition, a hit on Cheaper than dirt came up with a list from the blue book.

The list stated what I mentioned in the OP. To view the suggested value, I'd have to pay. I'll have to consult the actual book for a verifiable source. I guess my actual question was why would Beretta make a 92F in a special run, when F types had been out of production for at least a decade?

I found this gun at a local gun shop, for $449. The original owner bought it from this very store NIB and may have fired a few rounds. It is on hold for me until tomorrow. I've always been intrigued with Beretta, and this was a great deal locally.

is it an F or FS? many people have confused the two. have have you looked for that groove on the underside of the slide? on the back there will be a short groove on one side for the safety system and if it's an FS there will be a longer groove for the enlarged hammer pin. Looking online it doesn't look to be especially valuable. looks like the first series is bruniton and the second series is inox?

Looks like it's a special edition, but a shooter, nothing super valuable or rare like the Billenium or Steel-I models. Personally if I wanted a Beretta and that was available in great shape and at a decent price, like this one seems to be, I'd buy it.

Just don't think you'll have to baby it or anything, it's just a normal Beretta with some artwork.
