XDS or Shield?

I tried both and went with the XDS. Before that had a 1st gen Walther PPS that was junk, and a Kahr CM9 that would get you killed. I wasn't in love with the texture of the gun but it shot much better for me than the shield. It's a few ounces heavier and has better sights. To me, the XDS feels more like they took a service pistol and downsized it for ccw. It's solid and the fit and finish (inside and out) is superior to the shields I've used. My XDS runs great just as it came from the factory and has been a pleasure to use.

I'd go with the Shield, all day long. I had some subcompact XD a while back, but never really dug it, and let it go. I had a Walther PPS (M1) and liked it ok, but when a trade deal on a Shield stumbled my way, I let a freind trade me out of the Walther, and never looked back.
The Walther's problem is it has all the blocky,squared edges just like the XDS has, which serve no function but to give it that nifty-keen,Klingon battle cruiser look that many folks are attracted to (I'm a fan of pocket carry, so the external ergos matter to me).
As mentioned above, the Shield is cheaper, shorter, lighter, externally smoother, and has arguably the best CS/warranty dept, and probably the best trade/re-sale potential.
Also, I got a spare 8-rd mag this past week via ebay for $21.49, delivered (from gunmagwarehouse, IIRC). I don't know about the XDS, but I know you can't touch Walther mags for anywhere near that.

The Shield in 9mm is my carry gun. Easy to conceal and carry. Good accuracy for a small carry pistol.

Do you shoot thumbs forward? Just wondering because I have the same issue and I'm 99% sure it's my thumb hitting the slide release under recoil.

I bought both, sold the Shield. I liked the grip safety on the XDS. Boh are really great quality and reliable guns.

I am leaning towards the XDS since I am very familiar with XD, XDM, and XD Mod 2 models. However, I will wait until I have had a chance to rent them both before making my decision.
