XTP or DPX for cassull?

Im wondering about which one you would choose. Penetration on dangerous game......corbon dpx(solid copper) or hornady xtp (controlled exp. jhp). the xtp has better ballistics with a bullet thats 10 gr. lighter. But that solid copper dpx intrigues me. I hear great things about them and wonder if it would penetrate better even with lower ballistics. Any thoughts???

I doubt anyone here knows for sure. Probably a "coin flip" situation...

I would test both for accuracy and carry whichever shot best in my gun. The XTP has a rep as being very accurate...to a degree, so does the DPX.

Not sure about the DPX but I use xtp's in everything I reload,Damn good bullet IMO,supposed to be deep penetrating with controlled expansion.I am sure they are much cheaper than the DPX also.I doubt ballistics would make that much difference at normal handgun ranges.But I could be wrong.

While the bullet itself is made out of 100% copper, I would really not consider the DPX to be "solid". The things have a hollow-point in them so big that you can mix a drink. Don't get me wrong, I love the things. I have used them muzzleloading now for about 2 years and they make big entrances and HUGE exits. For handgunning (especially at .454 velocities), they should be exactly the same.
While the XTP has a great earned reputation, you really cannot compare the 2 bullets fairly. The DPX will penetrate further at lower velocities. It may not be for everyone, but the things just rock.

Make sure you get the XTP/M (magnum) for the Casull.

Don't know about the DPX. I've taken all manner of game with 300gr XTP's with very good penetration and not as much as expansion as you would think.
