I completely re-edited the captions based on the feedback, so this image isn't the same as was here earlier.

I know I said this in the other thread too (the one w/ the long self-defense quote), but I think this is a little wordy. What about "Cops use guns to defend themseves. You can too."

Also, "protecting the innocents" can leave you open to charges of vigilantism or cop wannabeism. (Is that a word?) Whereas self-defense is less ambiguous. I know a CCW can be used to defend others, under the right circumstances, but it might be better to keep it simple for a poster.

As it is, using a gun in self defense and legally reporting illegal immigrants to the US Border patrol is constantly referred to as vigilantism. I'm beginning to embrace the term.

I agree. There is a difference between why a cop carries, and why someone with a ccl carries. I'd go for something more factual.

I immediately jumped to the "I can be a cop" line of thought on this one, which looks to be the way most folks were lead.

Perhaps - You Might Need To Also.

I like it.

For those that think, "Vigilante," go ahead and turn in all your handguns, since you're not going to be using them to protect innocents from harm. You will, however, be allowed to keep your O/U shotguns and hunting rifles, "For Sporting Purposes."

"Cops use guns to protect themselves. You can too."

Shorter, thought provoking without being a turn off.

I also find the wording to lean a little toward "wannabe copness"...

Maybe try something with the same cop pic on the left with the caption "cops use firearms to defend themselves"... and put a pic of a normal guy on the right with the caption "others do also".

The message that should be conveyed (at least in my mind) is that there really isn't any difference as far as the reason that a cop carries, and the reason that a normal person carries. Both carry to defend themselves in the event that self defense with a firearm becomes neccessary. The nature of the cop's job is just such that that situation may arise with more frequency than it does for people who are not cops.

Picky

Just being picky, but the standing LEO has a wedding ring on, the weapon holder does not. I like all the captions, and love your work.

What, your wedding ring isn't made of tacticool(r)(tm) self shaping polymimetic alloy that automatically tucks away when your draw?

Sheesh.

I was driving around today and thinking about how the caption could be changed, and I come back to find Oleg got it exactly right.

:D

Course my mental caption was:

Cops can carry handguns to defend their lives.

So can you.

:p

Edit number two: someone beat me to that! haha.

nice! is there some archive of these somewhere? thanks.

Um, is that Gordon Lightfoot?

Maybe something like "Sundown, you'd better take care...buy a Glock with a Surefire and you're halfway there...."

But if it's not Lightfoot, nevermind.

Great photography, as always.
