Does anyone else watch people shooting guns on youtube and think oh my god, these people have no idea of gun safety and look like complete idiots? It drives me nuts watching most of them.

I've just started getting into making videos.
I'm not sure when I'll put up some shooting videos, since I normally shoot with friends where it doesn't really work well to take the time of setting up the camera for good angles and such.

Oh yeah. Loaded guns pointed at range ceilings, fingers on triggers, idiots speed shooting, giving the wife a .50 cal desert eagle, people trying to look cool for the camera, two guns at once, etc. Why would you post a video of yourself or friends looking like complete idiots?

I honestly think 95% of the people posted on youtube look like idiots gun related or not. The more serious gun related videos almost seem to be put up there just to make gun owners look bad.

I tend to stay away from the idiot ones like "guy shoots shotgun one-handed OMG!" videos). Usually, you'll see the shooters acting safely...usually

Most of the videos are bad but I have stumbled across a few "how-to" videos involving field stripping that have been especially helpful when I want to look at the inards of a gun without having to ask the service person to break the gun down. (It's ok I always ask before I start taking stuff apart)

Yep

There was one video I recall of some kid about 19 it seemed, sitting at the computer on video, talking in smug tones about his "bad boy" new Desert Eagle or something....then the gun discharged because he was waving it around in the house.

The videos where I expect such idiocy, seem to usually involve a dumb-bunny or two in the background, guffawing and shouting deep things, like: "Holy Spiff!" or whatever.

One time I saw a video of a ND where a kid was talking about how his k98 wasn't firing when he pulled the trigger. As you can guess, it fired when the camera was rolling.
There are some fake ones (I think that desert eagle one is a known fake), but the recoil from the way he was holding it and the sound seemed pretty real.

Wow, I just watched that todd Jarrett Video and I wish I wasn't at my school so I could practice doing the things he is saying! amazing stuff

P.S. Does anyone know what kind of gun he is shooting?

YES ABSOLUTLY!!!
Especially the ones where the chicks shoot the full autos in swimsuits!
Now dont get me wrong I like chicks in swimsuits and full autos --I just think the ANTIS could have a ball with them!!!

Just a thought, and a suggestion, not a criticism:

I see a lot of complaining here about the poor examples of firearms related videos at YouTube, and some praise of some of the good videos about firearms thre, but have any of you posted your own videos relative to firearms at YouTube. It surely is not difficult to make a video that is worth posting if only to try to tilt the odds in favor of those that show proper firearms handling technique. Why talk about all the ammunition that the less than proficient place on YouTube for the antis, why not do something to support our side instead.

I can tell you from experience that you do not need to be a director, nor a movie star to place a video there about firearms. There are now 19 posts in this thread. If there was one video for each post, well think about it. It would be 19 better videos for the public to view in which they could learn about responsible firearms handling. I guess i just thought up a weekend project for myself, a new video for YouTube and for my blog.

All the best,
Glenn B

I was actually told to watch the one where the girl knocks herself out with a DE .50 by a girl at a gun shop!

Glenn thats a good idea, but i dont have a camera.
DKsimon, that Todd Jarrett stuff is awesome. Lets me know how far I have to go. I liked the other videos of Rob Leatham.
