Youtube Question for Debate

Tom,

Can I be so bold to ask you to answer your own question? What laws you would recommend targeting first?

Thanks.

Youtube and CNN

I would imagine that the moderator would toss this to Ron Paul. Paul would probably start talking about guns in space or something. Then the moderator would toss it to Huckabee who would recount a duck hunting trip to Arkadelphia in 1986. Then they would move on the the next question.

They aren't going to ask Rudy or Romney this question.

Great question though Tom and Clint!

Still want to know how to vote for this.
The five-star thing is for all vdeos. There is some way to vote for which questions will be asked at te next debate.

Great video, Tom. :)

Hope it goes somewhere, but expect it won't. Too bad!

im curious about this as well. i voted for teh video also, but i wasnt able to find a "debate video questions" section or anything.

I brought this up a little while ago in this thread...

If you want to vote for videos (just basically to get some more visibility) go to www.communitycounts.us

Search for the username of the person who uploaded the youtube video...

Just as a side note...THR could probably totally rock the community counts vote process if people voted...after all haven't we done the same to online polls?

Shot in the Foot

Bobarino,

I thought at least some of the three laws you mentioned (FOPA '86, GCA '68, and NFA '34) would be included.

My concern: if this question is asked, and if a legitimate candidate answered it, it would be suicide. At best, they would be forced to answer it awfully carefully, but even then, in today's sound bite society, their clarification would get lost.

Based on what is in those particular laws, think how the media would twist their answer: "He wants to allow criminals to have guns!" "He doesn't want police to be able to trace firearms used in a crime." "He wants domestic abusers to have machine guns!"

They should be reworked/repealed, but I think that needs to become an issue AFTER someone is elected.

i realize that. my comment was made tongue-in-cheek. there are good parts of the FOPA '86, but its most notorious on these type of forums for closing the full-auto registry. i honestly don't believe all the acts in their entirety should be repealed, but good chunks of them i'd like to see go away. unfortunately, i don't think this question will make it to the debates. it might actually show that the some of the candidates not only DON'T support the second amendment, but that they don't know many, if any, gun laws at all.

Bobby

To paraphrase what we always hear whenever any gun control law is passed . . .

Repealing any three gun control laws won't solve our problems, but "it's a good first step."

<grin>

My important one is Gun Free Zones. Before MI got shall issue, hubby and I had NON-RESTRICTED permits. Bring them back. Also, concealed carry in ALL States = safe travel law. The third I guess would be "shall issue in ALL states. I know a lot of you on this website think that NO PERMIT is necessary under the constitution, but my permit saying I'm the GOOD PERSON versus the criminal I just shot makes FEEL better. Geez I hate that
word "feel', but hey I am a woman.
