i recently acquired a yugo m70 and i was wondering a few things.
1. can i put a "RPK" barrel on it?
2. what good non dust cover optic mounts are there? (while trying to maintain the wood furnature)
3. there are two bolts on the side of my wood stock (original with matching numbers) is that normal?
4. how much do these go for now adays? (trying to see if i got a deal on it)
any extra information you guys think would be helpful is appreciated. i'm familiar with ak's. just mostly Romanian.

here is a picture of my latest baby

I guess my question is why would you want to put an RPK barrel on it? What do you hope to gain?

Anything is possible, but RPK barrels are not exactly direct-swap replacements for the M70. If an RPK is what you're after, buy an RPK.

i was just looking at longer barrel options. i am not sure if you can find talbuk barrels?
the m70 sniper rifle? i was going for something like that

1. Maybe, but it will almost certainly be a huge PITA.
2. There are no good optic mounts (that I know of) that do not involve removing the top handguard. TWS' website states that their dog leg mounts do not work with Yugo's.
3. No, that is not normal.
4. I paid $525 for mine (new in box) last winter. However, they are no longer being produced commercially, so they may have increased in value.

By the way, your rifle is an M70B1 clone (B1 designates the fixed stock.)

my biggest question is would a top mount that attaches to the sightpost work. not the dogleg one. i found a cheaper on on amazon and im curious if it would fit. cant find any information on the subject.

here is a link to the rail:

That rail would not work because it is meant to work on a stamped AKM receiver. The tab at the rear of that rail has a screw hole that would attach to the tang on a rear AKM trunnion, and a stock screw would hold it down.

M70s do not have the same type of rear trunnion as found on an AKM, and thus would have no provision for the stock screw, since the M70 stock mounts with a single long bolt instead of two wood screws.

I don't recall for sure but i don't think the Yugo dust cover is compatible with AKM covers. If i'm mistaken and they are compatible the relatively new Parabellum Armament rail would be great for an optic. I'm considering one for an Arsenal.
