Hi everyone!

I'm new to THR and this is my first posting.

I recently bought a Yugo SKS from a local gun store. The rifle had already been fitted with the Tapco stock and some Tapco furniture. However, I took the gun to the range and shot a few rounds...when I got home and was about to clean the rifle I noticed the pin attaching the bayonet was missing, so I removed the bayonet.

Now I am wanting to really overhaul the rest of the gun hardware by removing the grenade launcher sight and the grenade launcher. I have tried to "punch" out the pin for the grenade sight but it wont budge and I dont want to cut it off.

Anyone have any other suggestions?...or do I need to just continue beating the hell out of the pin?

I would drill out the pin.

Then use a pipe wrench to screw it off.
You might have to heat it to break it loose.

It is right hand thread.

The guy at the shop said that the Tapco 922r compliant kit had been installed and that it was legal. By removing all this crap with the 922r kit in place does it now become illegal?

Either way, I'll try to drill he damn thing...I've broken 4 punches and have tried torquing it out - this thing is amazingly tough.

Look carefully at the back end of the launcher where it meets the barrel you may have a small spot weld here in Kaliforinastan Thereaded barrels are a no no sometimes I think maybe and thats a quote from the ATF rule book.
Point is that my son has one and it WAS welded.

Nope, once you're 922r compliant, you can go to town.

It's only if you aren't 922r compliant that you can't remove anything (like the bayo or grenade launcher stuff) on a 59/66 because doing so changes it's C&R status.

How's that for "responsible" firearms laws that make sense, eh?
