To make this easy, let’s just go with what the frame is made of.
So what do you have, Steel, Aluminum alloy or Polymer?
I’ve got all three types.
I added Space Age Metal for those of you that have the strange stuff.

Forged steel frame and slide for home defense on my bed stand.

Jeep console gun and everyday carry is aluminum alloy frame and steel slide.

No polymer. Yet

I really don't know.

I have have mostly plastic guns which are obviously plastic. I assume my Girsan 1911 is steel? Heritage Rough Rider, I have no idea?

Tell me what I have and I'll vote...

Should've added wood as an option. Steel and wood make the best firearms. Polymer has it's place but is hard to admire. Aluminum and polymer are both affordable (and lightweight). But firearms made from steel and wood are things you pass on.

Plastic guns are lighter and more weather resistant. If I didn't live in Humidsville, USA, I'd probably have a lot more
blued steel guns.

All three for me, but the majority are steel. I don't have a problem with modern materials, but there is something about traditional wood and steel that draws me in.

I could vote for steel, since that is what my antiques are made of but I can't vote for the material all of my superior guns are made of due to the fact that it isn't an option on the list, polymer!

I buy guns I like, or to do a job, and material is a distant third or fourth place on my checklist.
The CCW just happened to be polymer (a Ruger SR9c). Ones I like seem to be aluminum more often than not.
Properly cared for, I have nothing against any of the major materials. Though I'm still unsure if polymer will be heirloom quality, between how some plastics break down and the scratching evident in my SR9c's mag well.
I do miss my S&W 586. That had more solid steel than my current car.

Overwhelmingly steel, a half dozen of aluminum frames, a couple plastic, sorry polymer, frames. I think there's a lone Zamak *(sounds like space metal) framed pistol.

Ive embarked on an intensive program to purge all the plastic bits (except grips) from my armory. I still need:

A trigger housing for a Marlin 70
A left-side safety lever for a Beretta 92
A magazine release for a S&W 422

Anybody has a lead on these, I'd appreciate it!
