YouTube to Dump Many Gun Videos

If you're going to post threads like this, at least include some info. We don't want to be spreading misinformation. Here is Youtube's newly published policies regarding guns:

YouTube prohibits certain kinds of content featuring firearms. Specifically, we don’t allow content that:

  • Intends to sell firearms or certain firearms accessories through direct sales (e.g., private sales by individuals) or links to sites that sell these items. These accessories include but may not be limited to accessories that enable a firearm to simulate automatic fire or convert a firearm to automatic fire (e.g., bump stocks, gatling triggers, drop-in auto sears, conversion kits), and high capacity magazines (i.e., magazines or belts carrying more than 30 rounds).
  • Provides instructions on manufacturing a firearm, ammunition, high capacity magazine, homemade silencers/suppressors, or certain firearms accessories such as those listed above. This also includes instructions on how to convert a firearm to automatic or simulated automatic firing capabilities.
  • Shows users how to install the above-mentioned accessories or modifications.
While I obviously don't agree with the majority of that (the parts I do agree with are already against federal law such as homemade suppressors and illegally converting a semi-automatic firearms to fully automatic), it's not the "Youtube to ban all gun videos" that people are shouting right now. Still, there is the "slippery slope" issue to be concerned with.

Before I found this place I started there watching fortunecookie and hornadyloader and they have some good info. I also needed help taking my bolt apart and youtube helped with that. Its a shame they feel this way but we are in the age of my feeling are hurt and if you don't conform to the way I feel I'm gonna show my rear end and kick my feet until I get my way and too many people are giving into it!!

Sounds like they will dump all reloading videos. That’s pretty well a slap in the face. That will definetly get my YouTube red account dumped.

I've used the tube several times for deep cleaning and reassembling. Being the only one in my local circles that owns lever guns I'd prefer a guiding hand instead of going blind. I heard about full30 recently and am hopeful that I can find the same content there. Well there and pornhub if the jokes are true.

How did you get that out of the YouTube announcement?

i found this one if you can get to it

We can't show how to install a hi cap ammunition feeding device, eh?

Yeah, this won't be abused to silence pro gun content, no way.

Luckily alternatives are lining up to replace this Brave New Youtube Politburo. Full30, Bitchute, and unlikely as it seems, Pornhub are offering to host video channels chased off by Youtube.

You need a couple ingredients for this service, which is why Youtube keeps winning;
-Giant server farms to physically hold the video data
-High end video streaming capability (software & hardware) to deliver that data to a big enough audience
-Connections with advertisers willing to pay enough to the hosting company & content makers, for it to be worth their while (bit of a chicken/egg thing with the audience size)
-Willingness of host to carry said content/data (this is Youtube's problem)

Sounds silly, but the pornography industry has all these ingredients in spades, probably nearly equal to Youtube. Get enough interest in the non-explicit stuff (there clearly is, in total) and they'll clean/class up the service to reach a wider, more easily mortified audience, and make even more money.

The second bullet point in #2 “provides instructions on manufacturing...ammunition..”

Look at the second bullet point in the new rulas, posted by @primalmu in the second post.

I sent feedback to YouTube, stating that if they start censoring perfectly legal activities, which I am interested in, I will have no reason to visit their site, and will remove their app from my devices and go elsewhere.

FortuneCookie is the guy who got me into reloading two years ago and he remains one of my favorite channels on youtube. Now not only is he gone, but so too are the Sootch00 videos on how to assemble a stripped AR lower. Even Duelist1954 isn't safe.

If InRangeTV really does begin uploading videos to pornography websites... I may just follow them there and never bother with Youtube again.

Pornographic websites are the ONLY other video hosting websites that have the ability to compete with Youtube. Since Youtube has essentially turned into Nazitube (they're already halfway there with the red background behind the play icon) the only place to put guns now that can still bring in a new audience is a place like Pornhub.

When a lot of the video game channels on youtube got hit with demonetization they at least have an alternative on other websites dedicated for streaming live video game content. Gun content really has nothing like that other than Full30, but even that service is lacking in openness to new content creators.

I think Pornhub is looking at becoming the competition to Youtube for all the reasons you listed. Hell, they can even advertise that they're the real freedom of expression and creativity website.

At the very least, it may make Wheeler Walker Jr. even more of a legitimate Country music singer when he's on the same website Ian of Forgotten Weapons is.

They've already begun moving stuff there. It remains to be seen if it's serious or a stunt (or both). I seen't it...and *cough* other things. Hide the kids & wife first ;)

I sure hope this news article isn't "off topic"

The NSSF sure seems to think it's pertinent to the shooting sports & gun industry, anyway

(What's off topic is mentioning the "March of our Lives" protest, as if that has anything to do with anything in the article...but Bloomberg News makes sure to mention it in passing. News services; yet another 'means of production' that has been seized by anti-gunners in this culture war)

Not unlike an insidious disease, eh?

In a very real sense this may be the last card held by a movement increasingly ensnared in a resentful quest to marginalize the dignity of individuals and abrogate certain constitutional rights (such as domestic disarmament).

In a world where Donald Trump is President of the United States and 4Chan has become the beacon of exposing media corruption... I have to take Ian and Karl at their word and believe they are in fact going to Pornhub.

Whoops, okay ... had to take my safe search off strict.

Yes, In-Range TV is actually on there. I'd link it, but don't want to get into trouble for doing so.
