I stopped by and they have their Mini 14’s on clearance for $399.00. Not on the sticker but I asked and the Sporting Goods person looked it up
Heard about it on another board

had some here for that price. one guy bought 4 of them and then went to another store and bought their last two. Very possible it was a dealer.

Well I got one :) . Went to the closest Walmart and saw one on the shelf and said I wanted to buy it - then apparently there was something wrong with their computer so they couldn't sell any guns.

Drove a town over - none on the shelf but for the first time in my life "Do you have any in the back?" actually worked and they had one.

The Mini-14 has always been on my "eventually" wishlist but for $399 I couldn't pass it up.

They were $599 about a month and a half ago. Again, only if you had it scanned; the tag didn't reflect it. The one in the case in the one store in my area that had one had been there for more than a year, but it was gone when I went in to check after hearing about the deal. I was actually kind of relieved.

For $399, I'd buy two or three. Wal-Mart is probably just wanting to divest itself of any centerfire self-loaders these days, especially any that accept detachable magazines.

Maybe even a glitch. I worked at sears for a while in college and now and then stuff that had been replaced with a new number would go on clearance without anyone knowing. A lot of the time it took someone buying one for anyone to figure it out. Then us salesmen would buy them up! One year at Christmas I bought my dad and grandpa Harris portable cutting torches for $99. I’d have got myself one but didn’t have anymore money. I even special ordered the second one after we sold the stock. Soon after that new ones showed up in slightly different packaging at the normal $350 price tag. So basically someone forgot to have a sell to deplete the inventory or there wasn’t enough of them to include it in the add, the sku got old and went through several automatic mark downs in the computer until it was rock bottom sale price.

This is on my list for tomorrow after work. I doubt I'll find anything but many lady luck will take a ride with me.

I bought the last two weatherby vanguard selects(syn stocked) today for 249.00 a piece. a 3006 and a 270. went there for a can of starting fluid and came home with two rifles. no mini-14,s.

Man I'd love to pick one up. I haven't seen a gun in Walmart in YEARS. None of the local ones carry guns here.

Already seeing them being flipped locally. One for $579 and another for $600.

It sure looks like the Mart will be selling Ammo only before long... caving in to liberal bullying no doubt.

They are eliminating the guns because 99% of people do not buy guns from Walmart because its such a hassle! I purchased one from them and what a giant PITA! Have to get a manager approval, store manager, dept manager, clerk and manager didn't know what to do. It took me about an hour+ to purchase one gun while other stores takes 20min if that. I know the gun counter guy at my local store who is very knowledgeable and he said they do it for all stores for inventory because something isn't selling. A few years back they did this with Marlin 1895 and he said if they don't sell x amount they clearance them and wont get anymore. Most people go to Walmart for a 22lr or shotgun and the occasional plinker for ammo. My Walmart has had henrys and M14 for along time. I think he said he sells one gun every 6 months if that.

There is likely some truth here. As I said in my post earlier the original Walmart I went to had the gun on the shelf but I couldn't actually buy it. That second one I went to it took me almost 20 minutes to get someone to the sporting goods counter to even speak with them. The whole process took a little over an hour in the store. When we finished up the transaction the clerk mentioned that I was the first person to buy a gun from that store in the month of August (on Aug 16).

Wow. In Ca I can’t recall seeing a Wal Mart with Guns, only ammo locked in cabinets.

In Az they have a gun counter at most (ic not all) of the Marts I’ve been to there. Makes me remember just how restrictive Ca is... and crime is just as lousy here as everywhere else.

the Walmart here has plenty of firearms from rimfire-centerfire and shotguns with lots of ammo. and has a lady manager who hunts and walks you thru the electric forms on their computer and gets you out pretty quick, less than a half hour.

I bought a couple rimfires on clearance last year this time for 1/2 off. They also had Marlin Centerfire Levers on clearance.
Asked the manager if they were getting out of firearms and he said "no, our fall gun inventory is pre ordered so every year around mid Aug - Sept we clearance firearms to make room for the new"
Makes sense.

Where are you in NY? Here in the Hudson Valley, the Fishkill store was the last holdout. I haven't been in there in a few years, but the last time I was, they were still selling guns.
