PSA has the p9 for 399. I've had a large frame 9mm in the back of mind for awhile now. Orignally looking at 92s, but I'm open to other options. I know cz has a lot of fans.

The p9 has 19 rd mags( comes w/2). SA/DA w/ decocker (also includes manual safety if you want to swap them). Looks like standard sights. Has a rail for light/laser attachment.

Any opinions? This would be used mainly as a range toy, and for running tac course at the range. I guess it could easily find its way into the nightstand.

I assume holsters are readily avalible. Hows cz customer service?
 
Don't know about CZ service, but my P09 is probably the most accurate gun I own. Throw some goodies from Cajun gun works at it and the trigger approaches 1911 triggers. 399 is a steal for a P09.
 
Just noticed buds has them a couple bucks cheaper.. then add $30 for transfer. I wonder what the local shops have in stock or perhaps in the used case...
 
Mine in 40 S&W is very accurate and reliable. Easy to shoot and shoot well. Really like it and recommend them.
 
I picked up a used P-09 a while back with 4 mags for a little more than they are asking for that one.
I didn't know if I'd like it, but it's such a nice shooter, and very comfortable in my hand.
This one has the fiber optic front and blacked out rear sights, and it just shoots where it points.
I'm seriously thinking of a P-07 to go with it.

One dot on the rear sight popped off the P-09 after 2nd range trip, CZ customer service sent me a new one the same week. I also have the P-07 in 9mm. I recommend them both. SA/DA/decocker (also like my SIG) manual of arms is for me! Be aware that the CZ magazines are a bit on the pricy side.
 
I don't understand? These are two very different guns! One is a light weight plastic gun and one is a heavy weight metal gun.

I would go for the heavier gun (Beretta 92) for a range gun. I would go for the lighter weight gun (CZ P09) if I were ever planning on carrying it anywhere.

A heavier gun is smoother shooting IMHO. A lighter gun is MUCH more pleasant to carry around. If you want a range gun choose between the Beretta 92 and a CZ75... I own both and they are both excellent range guns!
 
Yeah... umm.. Okay.. The M92 and the P09 are both what should be considered large guns and they aren't very different in specifications. The M92 is 33oz and the P-09 is 31oz. The P-09 is .4 inch shorter muzzle to butt, but .3 inch taller from the bottom of the grip to the top of the slide. Someone shooting both guns is highly unlikely to notice a significant difference between the two guns from recoil, unless they are very, very recoil sensitive.
 
The P-09 is a nice gun, and perhaps the most mechanically accurate polymer-framed gun I've seen.

I do not know why someone looking for a range toy would not look at the steel-framed CZ's, though. (I guess price may be the answer.)
 
I have the smaller brother (P-07) and it's my cold weather carry gun. It's essentially a Glock 19 with a DA/SA hammer instead of a striker. I'm extremely impressed with the gun in every regard. I like it so much I bought a companion in 40 S&W just so I could always have access to good factory defensive ammo in case of another shortage. The 40 came with night sights and I added them to the 9mm. I think you will be equally happy with the slightly larger P-09.

Home defense and the range are the areas where is shines. It is big but holds 20 rounds with one in the chamber.
 
I stopped in a pawn shop in springfield IL this weekend tolook a couple 92's they had. One was a us mfg asking 450. A little older based on having steel trigger & guide rod. Good shape. Another was an Italian 92S that was well used asking 325. I suspect it is one of the Italian police trade ins.

But honestly I'm becoming more interested in the cz p-09. The base model can be found for 350-400 online, but I think I want the OD green w/ night sights. Theyre going for about 530 or so online. I feel like the 150 dollar bump will be worth having the trijicon night sights.

I think the sights go for about a hundred bucks and then theres a little fitting to be done... cz suggests you may want a smith to install them.
 
You might want to check some local shops, throw in a transfer fee and for $399 + transfer fee you will be paying only a couple bucks less then I got mine for a couple years ago.
For guns I always shop locally first.
