My summer carry gun is a Kahr P9. Kahr doesn't make a double stack, so my winter carry gun choice has come down to either a Beretta PX4 compact or a CZ P-07. These two are DA/SA guns that are the same size as a Glock 19 with the same capacity in 9mm. The 40 holds one less (12) than the Glock 23. I don't want a striker fired carry gun but I like the size of the Glock.

Advantages of the CZ: longer barrel, so more velocity and longer sight radius. Slightly thinner and a bit grippier. Can swap decocker for a manual safety.

Advantages of the Beretta: magazines are considerably cheaper. The rotary barrel supposedly reduces felt recoil over tilting barrel designs. Decocker and safety both on same control.

Crimson Trace doesn't make a laser, so that's a wash. Both guns have night sights.

I know gun choices are personal, but I like the feel of both and am wondering if there's some deciding factor between the two I've overlooked?

I have no personal experience with the P07 outside of dryfiring but I can tell you between the two, the PX4 has the better trigger out of the box. PX4 is very accurate and very light recoil impulse, even in the 40 cal versions. I am not a fan of DA/SA guns, and I really hate Beretta's fondness of slide mounted rotary safeties/decockers, but with that said, the PX4 has been a bucket list item of mine for quite some time. even though I normally prefer subcompacts, the compact PX4 feels best in my hand.

And I would vote the opposite, as I like DA/SA guns, especially CZ.

Of the two I would go p07 because of the position of the safety/decocker alone, but if I was buying a Cz in this compact size I would pick a p01/06. Almost the same weight and you get an aluminum frame with more options (trigger, grips, sights). Px4 storm is a good choice in 9mm as well, I just like the Cz's more. The only problems I've really heard with these pistols is in the 40 caliber chamberings. Certain parts breaking prematurely and things like that. In 9mm they should both be rock solid

Tried the CZ P07 but didn't care for the feel of it; greatly prefer the P01 for it's ergonomics and Hi-Power like grip design. Between the two I would go with the Beretta PX4 Compact. Good overall balance and feel to it and I like the rotating barrel design.

The Beretta can also be changed from a Safety/Decocker lever to a Decocker only, if that's what you want. Or purchased directly as a G-model with decocker only.

Ernest Langdon has been working with a PX4 Compact for the past couple of years. He even has a "special" model from Beretta introduced this year.

Here is an article on Langdon's PX4 Compact http://www.gunnuts.net/2015/08/17/ernest-langdon-and-the-beretta-px4/

Robar Guns has a few special edition PX4's with custom treatments, if that's something you like https://robarguns.com/pro-shop/product/beretta-px4-compact-carry-pre-order/

They are both fine pistols. It might boil down to what you can shoot best assuming you can find both to try out. I have tried both myself and have a slight preference for the Beretta.

I already own both. I wish I could find a way to merge them into one gun.

The PX4 has a better trigger but I like the sights on the CZ more. I also like the longer barrel: the CZ chronos 50fps faster with the same ammo.

Myself in that case I would probably CCW the one with the better trigger then, especially if you are going to use DA for first shot.

After herself saw the Beretta PX4 while watching 'Westworld' she wanted to check them out. We did and I really like the feel, balance, etc. Just did not like the width of the pistol for concealed carry, seemed fat. The CZs we own just feel a lot slimmer and easier to carry.

.

I had a P07 and liked it alot, my favorite poly pistol. But I sold it off for a P01 that I'm much happier with. There was nothing wrong with the P07, I just like everything about the P01 a little more and it shows in my groups.
