That old German folder that I carried on the street fit perfectly into one of the two magazine pouch unit that was part of my uniform gear. Since the double mag pouch was right in front it was easily accessible from either hand. l did have to give up that second magazine - but with mags that carry 13 rounds I never felt the loss of one of them. Since the folder was completely concealed inside the mag pouch it was never obvious to anyone I was dealing with....
In the years since I retired out of police work, and came back to fishing for a living working as a skiff guide, I came to really dislike the clips on folders meant to keep them handy. I run my skiff mostly seated (and clock an average of 60 to 70 miles a day round trip into the saltwater Everglades...) I've lost several quality blades that simply rode up our of my pocket where they were clipped as we ran along... I learned the hard way never to trust any clip to keep a folder in place... This time of year I almost live on that skiff, going day after day working charters and I really need that folder to keep me out of trouble handling lines and nets when a sudden tangle might end up with me getting dragged over the side....
