Four hogs were in our traps this morning; all were very fat. The small guy was carefully field dressed, skinned and given to special friends along with some hams and back straps.

This boar had an attitude:

In the past two months we have trapped or shot 22 wild hogs, all boars, at that location.

alsaqr won't be releasing them. I am not even sure why you would ask such a question, George P, given his other posts here.
Because SOME folks - and I did not mean to imply him -do so with the older poor tasting ones which further exacerbates an issue that here in FL is huge. I have seen stories in the paper of folks who catch them and then release them into what they "think" is a secure large piece of property so they can then charge folks from out of state a nice sum to come and hunt a "trophy pig". Of course those darn porkies don't always stay around where they're supposed to.

Hogs i catch are DRT there; usually dying on the trap door, of course. :p

Yesterday i was deer hunting and forgot the magazine to my Ruger 10/.22 rifle. Can't single load that rifle. So i shot two hogs with my .50 muzzleloader. Nate, my lease partner, later shot the other two with his .22.

In Oklahoma the transportation of wild hogs without the proper permits could result in a felony conviction:

I had two dozen bust out of my trap, hitting every other feeder but only coons, possums, rabbits, squirrels and a fox have stopped by the trap since then. I think I’m going to change location to another feeder area.

Years ago, I was looking for a flats boat to buy. Guy near the Myaka State forest had one for sale. In Florida one can buy 5 acre “estate” plots. This fellow had a contracting business and used his plot as a barn and storage area for equipment. He also kept numerous American Bull dogs in kennels. Big friendly dogs. Near the kennels where several hog pens. I like dogs and enquired about his. He said they use them to run down and capture wild pigs. The smallest in the pen was being fattened for thanksgiving dinner.
Never knew if he was having me on or speaking true.
Anyway it was an interesting story, the flats boat was too large for my garage so I passed on it.

I have seen that reference in these pages afore. That dadburn spell checker don’t like coons wants to change it to coins.

I think it’s because programmers think we are using a racial slur vs talking about a raccoon by the name folks I grew up around referred to them with.

Was that you in the video?

I had a barrow hog that eventually got up to 400 lbs. When I got a few too many beers in me I would call him up and straddle him and then sit down and lock my legs around his belly. He would spin and spin while trying to bite one of my legs. He didn't like to be ridden.

That hog was named Piggy and he slept on the welcome mat of our front door at night. I eventually butchered him.

^ Not a chance, I wouldn’t have done that even when it wouldn’t have hurt as much to fall off.

I laugh almost every time I see it though and keep watching it until the chuckles are gone, wishing I could see the conclusion. Looks like it’s heading at a pretty good rate towards the end.
