Thats one rifle I would like to find in a reasonable price and decent condition. Around here pump rifles are scarce and the ones that are around have been beat up pretty bad. I saw one recently that was said to be in “good” condition that they were asking 400 for. When I asked about the dings on the stock I was told that it fell from a deer stand. I offered 250 and the guy acted like I had slapped his grandmother.

what only :eek:126,000 were made my ghosh those are rare

video time 6:12 using the pump this one seems crude with a loose mag
Mag fit seems to be pretty tight on these. However, the forend is loose enough to warrant calling it a rattletrap unless measures are taken to tighten the tolerances. Replacing the O-ring and checking the action tube is a bit of a PITA so many people leave it as it is and just ignore the rattle.

I know where there is a take down model 14 in .35 Remington. Nope not for sale. It was my dear dad's and he shot some nice deer with it.
I'd buy a nice 760 in 30-06 for $300. I guy offered me one for $200 but then he backed out of the deal. Can't blame him.

IMHO the 760(0) is at its best in large bore calibers. When I was looking for one I didn't care which .30-06 length caliber it's chambered in so when a carbine in .35 Whelen showed up, I grabbed it. The initial idea was to simply rebarrel it to 9.3x62 for a bit more serious big game work at moderate distances. However the Whelen proved to be close enough so I haven't bothered. Nevertheless, the 9.3 packs the most bunch you can cram into a 760(0) without going full blown wildcat and it's BDG-legal in most African countries to boot, so it's still awfully tempting.

Too bad Lumley Arms barrel bracket is discontinued so so much for my original multicaliber, switch barrel idea...

The 760 in the OP is worn and it is the less desirable early version with the barrel lug. The later version with the full float barrel and sleeker lines and better designed stock angle sell for significantly more and the 7600s a bit more yet.

True, by nice I meant a later model than the one the OP showed and in good condition.

The restock on the gun is worth most of the $300.
kinda like this one? 3ceaf7153d5bc2ff0eb86b6a521db7c5.jpg

If y

If you ever want to sell it let me kow, I've been looking for one for a project.

I am thinking of selling it. It’s like a 1946 production and has been drilled and tapped for side mount steel tube weaver scope. I was planning to shorten the barrel back to model 14 carbine length like the one in post #6 and put a set of williams peep sights on it.

There's a nostalgia market for the vintage Rem pumps in my part of the country, especially with the "corncob" forend...both rifles and shotguns. I'd buy that one for $300, as any Rem pump rifle is going for higher locally regardless of condition. I think it would clean up well and make a fine short-medium range deer rifle IF the bore was decent.
