I absolutely despise those useless things. Good only for a novelty or prison pocket carry. If you can't carry an LCP or Baby Browning, you need to reconsider your location and your choice of clothing.

An old man not far from me was sitting in his recliner watching TV when two teenage punks burst through his front door. I guess they thought he would be an easy mark. What they didn't count on was that the old man had one of those "Useless range toys" in his pocket that he drew and put to use. He shot one of them twice and the other 3 times. They left in the back of an ambulance and spent enough time in jail to consider career choice options. So don't write them off as no good. Would I recommend one to someone? No, but if I found a good deal on one I would buy it. I think it would beat not having any gun at all.

I absolutely love my charter arms undercover. Shoots like a Pussycat with 38 special FMJ loads. I paid 260.00 to my door. I can not speak more highly of it or the company. Btw I’m 5’9 275lbs and this thing disappears on me at 4 o’clock.

Your name isn't Frank Cannon is it?:neener: Just having some fun with you. The old Private Eye show with William Conrad was one of my favorites. And he put that snubby of his to good use.

I bought a 442 no lock a little over a year ago fom Keely Arms for just over $300 with $9 shipping then another $25 when it got here on the transfer. It weighs 17oz loaded. And yes these little guns have some recoil especially with my hot 158gr reloads. But those hard cast lead bullets dig deep. I got 400 Winchester 110gr bullets from Midway a month ago I need to load. Maybe this weekend with the stay at home order I will load a box of them. Going from a 158gr bullet to a 110gr bullet makes a real difference in recoil.

I also have one of the hard to find S&W model 431PD. A 6 shot 32 mag I just love. With 6 rounds on board it weighs 15oz. and just disappears in my pocket. Too bad they are hard to find and expensive when you do. And 32 mag ammo is expensive but I reload so its cheap to shoot.

Jerry I love the gun but not a fan of the HH but it looks like that’s been taken care off! Good for you

I am guessing HH is hidden hammer? Normally refered to as a concealed hammer? If you don't like the concealed hammer the model 637 is the airweight counterpart that is double/single action with exposed hammer. I have one of those also. They are just as nice as the concealed hammer model but not as smooth for pocket draw.

Slamfire

I like light and I like compact. Boat anchors sort of got tiring to carry. So, if you have money to burn, these snag free airweights are a great choice. All 38 Special. I don't need the blast or recoil.

I like your choices in lightweight S&W J frames, in particular the Model 638, though there are times when I still like to carry my all stainless steel Model 649. Not quite a boat anchor and that extra weight does a decent job of soaking up some of that felt recoil.

A few months ago I bought a police turn-in 4" S&W Model 10-7. I fell in love and bought a 4" 10-5 in better condition, then finally a 4" Model 15, all .38 Specials of course. They're are light enough to carry comfortably, are drop-dead, lights out accurate, and a cast 150-ish gr. SWCHP can be handloaded close to 1100 fps. Best of all, they were all under $300.

I carry the 10-7 almost daily in a high riding Longhorn holster, and the rig can easily be covered by my shirt tail.

No I’m sorry I meant Hilary Hole! I just could not have a functioning lock on a smith just on principle lol

OK I try not to think of Hillary and holes in the same thought. My 431PD has the lock and it’s a total and complete non-issue for me. Once in another post writing about this gun I had to go look at it because I didn’t remember if it had it or not. The 637 also has it now that I think about it. No big deal.

But a mans got to stick to his principles even if they don’t make sense to other people.

I've been carrying my Judge poly PD for about 3 yrs now. I use a Remora sticky holster and carry it in the front pocket of my cargo shorts everyday. I like it and it works for me. It's light weight and I'm a fan of the big bore snubby. Recoil really isn't bad at all since I put the pachmyrs on it. If it's winter and I'm wearing jeans I carry it in SOB or in a paddle holster.

Went to the outdoor range yesterday. Had the whole place for myself, great weather. Broke in my new Kahr 380, ran flawless for 200 rds of mixed ammo. Then started plinking with my favorite 22.cal. The LCR. My gosh what a fun gun to shoot. Cannot say enough good things about the gun. And a great trainer for the bigger bore Brother. Great trigger practice for DAO. Ended up shooting Shotgun clay shards at 50 yds. Just sitting on the bench and relaxing. It is amazing how well you can get by just shooting the 22.cal Just too much fun.

I started a new job a few weeks ago and have been busting my a** and hopefully can lose a few pounds so room in the waistline shouldn't be much of an issue.

the most comfortable iwb holster for my Charter Undercover has been the Galco Kingtuk. The leather will mold to the cylinder which results in a very slim iwb profile.

Great shooting @35 Whelen !. One hundred yards is a long way with irons, a handgun, and shooting offhand.

the Charter Undercoverette 32 H&R mag was responsible for starting my dive into reloading a few years ago. It has become my favorite hobby now.

I've been thinking of a gun in 32h&r mag as a vehicle carry/nightstand piece.

@35 Whelen , In the Old West, you would definitely be considered a gunslinger. Very nice shooting and good pix.

Your marksmanship and revolvers look great.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. My evening and weekend jobs and activities have all been cancelled due to the COVID mess, so I have so much more time to shoot. The grandkids spent the night last night and the two oldest (Boy-11, Girl-10) spent 2 or 3 hours this morning behind the shop shooting the above .38's as well as my Colt Gov't Model with a Ceiner .22 conversion, a 1903 production Colt SA 38 WCF, and H&R 922. They enjoyed it almost as much as I did.

How big of a person are you? What can you comfortably conceal? If I had the size for it, I'd go for a 3-4" smith in .357. I don't have the size for it, so when I was carrying a revolver, it was an SP101. A bit heavy, but a nice size in dimensions for the power it can pack. I'm not really a revolver guy, but I've had the Ruger for many years. It's the only revolver that I still have that isn't a single action.

If I can squeeze a bit more out of my paycheck I should be able to afford a sp101 snubbie in a few months. The only problem with that is that i'd rather have a 4.2 inch model to carry as a hunting sidearm at the price point.

I forgot to add that the 4.2incher will be carried in a shoulder rig under my hunting coat. So yeah. There's still a possibility but it's not gonna happen before the 4th of July.

Long ago I settled on a 4 inch minimum barrel length because of my less than ideal pistolero skills with snubbies. An sp101 would be a great choice IMHO and offer the versatility of either 357 Mag. or .38 Spl. which is a nice option to have. If need be, just save a bit longer until you can spend a little more to get something better. You''ll be glad you did. My S&W 4 inch Model 686 gets 38 special +P handloads with a 158 gr hardcast SWC for general carrying around. But it's neat to be able to step up to the world of 357 Magnum power levels whenever desired.
