Pretty spendy for a "derringer".

I see 4 youtube videos about it.
One shows a velocity chart, with a high of 168 m/s which equals 554 FPS.
It also shows how dirty it can get after firing.
What's the point of this, other than something cool? There are similarly sized derringers that fire cartridges. Is this for someone who can't own a pistol or something?

There are many places around the old rock where citizens are not allowed to own cartridge firearms. Other places where it’s prohibitively difficult to acquire them. What's the point of this, other than something cool? There are similarly sized derringers that fire cartridges. Hmmm... increase the barrel length by 1” and it’s still pretty darn concealable, mv with a 225 grain wide flat point might get over 600 and that would be something I wouldn’t care to catch with my t-shirt...The velocity chart lists the bullet weight of 13 grams which is 200 grains.
That's the projectile chronographed at 554 FPS.
It can probably shoot RB's faster but doesn't list any.
My problem is it looks modern, uses modern materials but really provides no advantage in performance compared to older traditional designs that have much more appeal to me due to having classic antique looks and feel. In fact a lot of the more classic good looking cap and ball revolvers are way better performers. If I wanted a short barrel pocket gun I would much rather get a classic beautiful looking cap and ball derringer type pistol instead. For black powder the barrel is too short but a least the classic antiques have that old fashion appeal to them.
I would opt for a Glock 26 (baby glock) with a standard 15 round stick for reloading instead if a small self defense pistol is the purpose.
This Gladiator pistol seems to be a step backwards when it comes to modern pistols and even antique pistols. I would be very scared to bet my life on a 2 shot derringer of any kind let alone one with such low power.
If it could handle smokeless with pistol or shotgun primers it would have adequate punch but it's still a modern made 2 shot short range derringer in a world where you can get better performing multi shot pocket pistols in .380 and up.
I just don't see this as the high powered scoped inline rifle (for people who like to cheat during historical muzzleloading hunting season) version of the pocket pistol muzzleloading world. It might be fun for recreation but please don't bet your life on something like this.
Cobray Leinad made a double barrel black powder .45 derringer.
For a lot less money it holds as much powder as could be desired.
They also made a single shot version that uses a 209 primer and has a push button safety.

The Gladiator I could conceal in my jeans pocket. I could possibly try to stuff that Diablo down the front of my jeans but it would print. (And I’d probably get asked out on dates a lot...)Never mind I will take a Diablo 12 Gauge Black Powder pistol, but still almost $500 for basic model.View attachment 915023
The main complaint I have with any revolver, except the Kimber, is that they don’t conceal easily. I used to carry a Chief’s Special and in winter a 3” M65 and even though I’m a rather large human, they were challenging to conceal. Flat is where it’s at. A dehorned single stack is a wonder. Anyone carrying concealed needs to put that first, otherwise, make it a full-size fighing pistol. For these purposes, blackpowder, legally in places moderns are not, an 1860 would work to perfection.I think I'd rather get a 6 shot pepper box, in .36 and double up on the .375 projectiles, and deliver 160 grains of lead, 6 times. For a mere $210...or better yet, carry a brace of these things for the same price as the derringer....,

Guys look at the size of the thing. Lots of you “I’d rather get a....” are suggesting pistols that are 2 or 3 or 4 times the size and weight.
like someone mentions the LCP for a cool pocket gun and people saying I’d rather pocket carry a 5” 1911... or better yet a desert eagle
