I'm supposed to be getting a .31 caliber blackpowder derringer as a gift but apparently there's no owners manual with it. It's a brass framed, smooth bore, brass barrelled pistol made by Shooters Arms Mfg. in the Phillipines. I believe it was purchased from Sportsmans Guide. The manufacturer in the Phillipines won't provide a manual because of an agreement with the US importer and the US importer (Federal Arms Corp.) has gone out of business.
Does anyone have one of these and have any idea of how to get a manual or have FIRST HAND experience loading and shooting one or a similar gun? It looks identical to the .31 caliber Pocket Derringer sold by Fall Creek Sutler (www.fcsutler.com). I do a little black powder rifle shooting but a derringer is new to me. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would guess, based on personal experience, that a charge of 8-10 grains of 3Fg black powder with a properly sized ball should do the trick.

However, YMMV, IANAL, and I won't be responsible if you blow up your gun (or worse).

Sounds like the Sam32 derringer sold by FAC through gunsnstuff until early (March?) 2005. I'd see if I could track down the steel .22LR barrel insert for it;

I believe it was purchased from Sportsmans Guide
Federal Arms Corp, the importer, sold these directly as well. They were a wholesaler, and they sold them for $79, and the .22 liner, that you could use to make an .22 LR pistol out of it cost 4.95 (looks like it'll cost you $5.95 now). I wonder who this new FAC Supply is? Are they resurrected?? They were sold to a lot of individuals, gun shops, etc...On Gunbroker, they were selling for $99 delivered, including a barrel liner (not installed). Classic Arms still sells the pistols as well. Traditions sells a Vest Pocket Derringer that is similar as well, but I don't know who makes their pistol. Sportsman's Guide didn't sell these IIRC.

derringer sam32 with .22 sleeve

anyone know where I can get one of these?

i remember seeing these on a website a long time ago. i ve got some .22short to mess around with and this is a cheap gun to shoot. will most likely be my fun gun.

Get yourself a baby flask. The throw spout hold's a perfect charge for the .31, at least for the Colt Pocket .31. Call Cabela's at 18002374444 and ask one of their product specialists. He'll look it up for you right quick. I do know I use one throw per chamber for my .31 from the baby flask and it shoot's real good, but I swear I have no idea how many grains it is. Hey, I'm gonna post this and then I'm gonna look over there on my flask and see if it says. I'll be right back on here.
