As I get older and older the weight of my guns matters more and more. The Ultra-Lightweight
M4-AR Air Lite Black Widow Rifle really meets the need of a lighter gun. I discovered this gun by accident and just ordered one today after spending over an hour on the phone with the designer.

They have just signed a contract with DOD.

What do you think?

a16"should weigh 5-6lb, with little compromise. Then along comes shops too cheap to turn down barrels and industry wide marketing throws out "HBAR".... and the crowds come to by crappy handling 7.5lb carbines and 9lb rifles. Ive had a 5.5lb ar for 15 years, and used it hard. never overheats, groups don't "open up" inches. No reason a 5.56 needs m60 barrel thickness. Compare a pencil barrel to any other rifle. Even ultralight ar barrels are heavier in profile to Garands, AKM's, mausers... other modern 5.56 rifle. No reason to avoid lightweights.
Though i would avoid that one. $2300... my 5.5lb was 1/4 that.

My Delton Sport, a box-stock M4gery indistinguibile from 50 others except by a pencil barrel, checks in at 5.8 pounds. In normal non-Rona conditions, it was selling for $450 new.

Of course, the more weight you cut the more it's going to cost. But are 12 ounces worth $1700 to you?

Heck, if you really want to spend money on an ultralight, Faxon offers a 4.9 lb AR for $1400. The caveat is that it's not currently in stock, but what is for guns right now...

Neat, and looks like a nice gun but way more than IM willing to spend to shave 8oz.

My light weight is 6lbs 12oz, with a pound of scope and mount, and 20rnd Pmag.
I can shave 1oz my going to a birdcage or 2ish by putting on a thread protector. I could shave some weight going to an ul upper.

Again it might be a fantastic rifle, and rifle choice, for someone else. But for the cost Ill pass.

Never heard of them, typically a company selling a rifle at a premium price bothers to tell you what the parts are to justify the premium. I don’t see that with any of their rifles, just high price tags.

So looks like a load of fecal matter to me.

I was shooting for “lighter” in an AR and pieced these two together for $500 and $700 respectively. No titanium, no aluminum barrel nuts, no carbon fiber, no LWBCGs, and both with 15” MLOK rails and H2 buffers.

Even with the RDS swapped out for a Leupold 1.5-4x in an Aero mount, a fellow range member was wowed at the weight today.

My daughters think they’re just right and I am glad the asking price was so modest. Until I started choosing parts to accommodate kids it never dawned on me that my own ARs weren’t meeting my needs despite many threads discussing guys who buy what they think they should have instead of what meets their purpose.

It’s a light AR. Nothing revolutionary. Guys have built lighter AR’s for less than half of their cost, some less than 1/3 of that price.

Then you see the flip up sights appear backwards, it has a keymod rail (eww by itself) pictured but says “quad rail” in the product description, and buzzword drops “high capacity magazine” when everyone else in the world considers a 30 rounder as standard equip for an AR, and the “trying too hard” marketing really starts turning my attention away.

I don’t mind a little weight in an AR, but the only thing I am really conscious of is nose weight. I have no interest in 24” AR barrels or heavy profiles. I am willing to pay money to get lightweight fluted barrels and one of mine has a carbon fiber forend. From the barrel nut back I don’t mind the weight.

Holy crap - fellas - their contact information is a Gmail account and a Hotmail account... are you kidding me? They aren’t even paying enough to elicit a domain email address through their web host... who does that? It’s 2020, e-commerce is easier than that... I might forgive them for not having an 800 number, but it’s absolutely ridiculous that they’d have a gmail and hotmail account listed for their contact emails.

At those prices, and with the obvious marketing and e-commerce inexperience, it looks a lot more like a scam site than a legitimate firearms manufacturer site.

Revolutionary???? Ummmm, no that is not revolutionary at all. Lightweight AR rifles have been being put together forever. There is so much wrong and missing on that website that I would run far far away from ordering anything from them. 30-60 days to "put together" a rifle for you.

Way over priced for "custom" put together parts.

The website feels like it was made by a Nigerian prince who needs help getting his money out of his country. Feels fishy to me.

Edit: who advertises a rifle as a “sniper rifle” like they do with the .50 cal
Feels C.O.Dfishy to me

I don’t really give weight much thought since I run with an M1A Scout.....

Also....They have a contract with the DoD to provide what exactly?

Probably non functional weapons to stump armorer students for their final exams:

Here’s a dorked up hunk of crap that won’t complete the cycle of operation. Make it work is your final exam.

I also love how they claim their .50 Caliber is available for DoD purchase only. That still has me laughing, because Uncle Sugar is all into buying anti-material rifles from some dude with a shed and a Gmail account.

Anyone interested in their 1911s? Up to 50% lighter than a standard 1911 (39 oz for a steel govt. model) at 28 oz. or 1 oz. lighter than a LW Govt. AND it has an aluminum SLIDE AND FRAME! How awesome is that?!? Also the slide and frame are made of T5 magnesium and the frame and slide are “Integrated”!!! Can you believe it?!? Not sure how it cycles but that truly is “Revolutionary”.
