No plastic gun, ever, will be collectible.
It'll do till something better gets here.
The 17 that is, not the 19.
Whos collecting? Im just trying to wear them out.
I bought an Sig M17 MHS for $799, could sell it for $2,500+ easy. Sounds collectible to mePlastic guns are for children. No plastic gun, ever, will be collectible. That's how I feel and should have no impact whatsoever on anyone else. More plastic guns for you, everyone is happy.
There are a lot of Marines that are not happy. Their Glock 19s were battle proven.
Not having been in the military it seems that if youre counting on your sidearm for combat things probably aren't going your way. That being said I voted no because of the 1911
Yes. In close quarter combat they have made a difference in the outcome of the events.Honest question from another guy who never served: do handguns play any sort of role in modern warfare?
I carried a 1911 for eight months in Viet Nam and never fired it once in combat. Why would I? I had a perfectly fine M-16A1. It was a comfort in a foxhole at night though. I only saw one fired in combat once by a M-79 Grenadier (They all were issued .45's) that ran out of grenades but wanted to keep fighting. If your a Grunt and have to go to your pistol, you have major problems.Honest question from another guy who never served: do handguns play any sort of role in modern warfare?
So the OP links to a story from November 2017, years ago, and since then, the USMC has selected the SIG P320 as its new pistol."More Marines carry Glock 19M as Corps looks for new pistol"

"Glocks are the best invention since the internet" or "Glocks are the spawn of the devil"
No, but it's a very close second to the Lefaucheux M1858 in 12mm pinfire. Is the Glock the best combat handgun of all time?
That would be the Sig M18. You know how the military is, they have to have their own model number for a gun.So the OP links to a story from November 2017, years ago, and since then, the USMC has selected the SIG P32 as its new pistol.
Yawn. Old idea, old news
Trolling.
This thread should be closed now before the usual "Glocks are the best invention since the internet" or "Glocks are the spawn of the devil" comments commence.
Well, most of the time ... but we called the .45 the 1911, and during my brief time as an investigator, they made me carry a S&W Model 36 that didn't have its own model number (gosh, now they get the M11s) ... still had to do the NHQC with that sucker, brutal. That would be the Sig M18.
