Dagnabit I hate holsters.

I probably own over 100 holsters by now, have several for every handgun I own and some for guns I no longer own. Problem is I have no butt so my IWB and OWB's keep pulling my pants down unless I really tighten my belt, which is always uncomfortable, and shoulder holsters work O.K. but put a strain on my back. .

So far the most comfortable rig I've found is a Coronado leather vest, seems to distribute the weight the best. Nobody said being buttless was easy. :rofl:

I know the feeling, so much so I can't carry a heavy wallet or my keys in my back pockets any more. Oddly enough though with a very thick and sturdy gun belt I don't have any problem supporting a compact or even a full size pistol in either an IWB or OWB holster.

Getting ready to go out and have chosen my Milt Sparks Versa-max to put my all steel commander in, only going to be out for about an hour.
Biggest problem is when I'm Grouse hunting in the north woods. I pack a Smith 45 Colt mountain gun in case of a bear encounter and constantly pulling up my pants is more tiring than the hunt itself. :neener:

I wear suspenders when I'm hunting, has the same effect on my back as a shoulder holster.
Bottom line is getting old sucks.

I think I can speak on behalf of the membership here at THR that we are all eternally grateful for your decision to keep your southern extremities concealed and undercover, as it were.

As to your dislike for holsters I still believe that getting a well designed and constructed gun belt would help support a holster and a gun more comfortably, while distributing the weight more evenly around your waist.

I have also worn this Uncle Mike's shoulder holster for hours on end without any discomfort to my back or shoulders.

What kind of belt are you using? I almost stopped carrying entirely because I was having more than usual back problems. I upgraded to a real gun belt and carrying became a lot more comfortable. I use a Kore belt which uses an adjustable track system instead of belt holes. Really helps fine tune just how much tension you want. Just finished a nice meal and need some relief room, loosen it a notch or two. You don't have to decide to suffocate yourself or have a slack belt with holes an inch or so apart.

Those belts look interesting may have to try one. Already have three good gun belts, one from Galco and two others of equal quality.
Think what I need is a belt like the little ladies push up bra only it pushes up my beer belly without pushing down on my pants.

I have the same problem, but I wear a Double Alpha Academy IDPA belt with a Sig X5 Legion or full-size 1911 and it is not only properly snug, but comfortable.

Of the various types of belt holsters OWB are definitely the most comfortable but also the least concealable.
Problem with IWB holsters is that in order for them to be comfortable you really need to wear a size larger pair of trousers. Not a problem for me as comfort surpassed fashion long ago, unfortunately I rarely have them on when I need them. :uhoh:

By the way Milt Sparks Summer Special and Versa max are the best I've found for carrying a full or commander size 1911

I guess I got lucky in that I had maybe one cheap Uncle Mike's rig 30 years ago that I used for a few weeks, then immediately graduated to better. Somewhere around 1990/91 I got a Galco Miami Classic for by BHP. A shoulder rig might sound odd but I was pretty thin and with the clothes I wore in those days (lots of blazers and sport coats) it worked well. When I moved to a more conventional belt rig I stuck with Galco for quite a few years with pretty good luck. Then about 10 years ago I discovered the Garrett Industries Silent Thunder line of holsters, and it hasn't even occurred to me to shop for anything else. That's one area where I lucked into finding what works pretty early on.

I also suffer from the condition known by my family as noassatall. I also have a metals allergy and a lot of belt buckles cause uncomfortable rashes and painful blisters after a couple days. I have swapped over to suspendersThey are a lot more comfortable, and now I can wear a belt kinda loose anD still keep stuff where I want it to be.

I also don't have a butt and never have. But I learned that any belt that slides down past your hips is a defective belt because it is not rigid enough and is flexing. A good heavy gun belt will not slide down past your hips. With that said suspenders are one of mankind's GREATEST inventions when you pile a lot of weight on your belt. I wore a tool belt for a lot of years and suspenders are nice to have just for comfort.

I also suffer from no-buttitis. Personally I would rather have that problem than deal with fat-buttitis. Wrangler slim fit jeans are my pants of choice and a good leather belt snugged up pretty tight keeps them in place. No suspenders for me. They make my shoulders ache after a short while.

With the onset of cool weather I can go back to my Peruvian alpaca poncho. Who cares if I print like a stud Arabian? I get to carry what and how I like, and people leave me alone. If I was 10" taller I could do the Clint Eastwood thing, but I gotta settle for Eli Wallach in the Mag 7.

Director, Sturgis, actually had Wallach ride around with his 40 bandits for over an hour early each morning to get into character.
