A few additions to my Marlin 336 xlt ss 30-30

Gun shoots great and looks very cool with the gray furniture and SS metal. For some reason, Remlin put a stiff as a brick loading gate on the 336 and I hated it. Pout a Leupold scope on already so I added the medium loading gate from Precision, thumb extension, new trigger that takes out all the slop. Has the wide trigger and it's down to about 2 in.lb on the pull. Accurate as heck and I love to shoot it but holding off on just dropping a ton of brass in the grass a few times a week because of the times we live in.
Just picked up a K series (1953) 39 a with all original and the furniture is almost perfect. Shoots lights out and has a Lyman adjustable sight on it now (have the original that I may put back on if the new scope will allow it. Waiting for ruger to retool the Marlin machinery and start putting out Ruger Quality Marlins. When they get the 45/70 going, I'll pick on up.

Smart move, not blowing through 30-30 ammo if you don't reload. There was a chap on the other day looking for ammo. Ammoseek had some Remington Core-lokt 170s. At $3.35 per round!

Yeah it's nuts. I do reload and have the Dillon 650 Xl and Forster single press but still, powder and primers are scarce. I stored up a bunch of factory rounds in each cal I shoot as well as primers lg/sm rifle and pistol primers but it still takes a lot to drop brass.

Added a rail I had to modify a bit and put a scope on her. She shoots great. I love this gun and have loved one just like it since I was 8.

I communicated with the owner of Ruger and he noted that Ruger wanted in the lever action business. They will be retooling to give the ruger quality to Marlin. They will be using the historic design and restoring the quality control. They will be retooling and yes, they will be bringing back the 39a. I too will be waiting for the 45/70 and will be waiting for Ruger to begin producing. I think I'll be able to pre order and be assured of customer service to fix any issues they may have

What will good old cast iron Ruger do to improve a Marlin which used to be advertised with "seven drop forged steel parts in every rifle?" I suspect most consumers would just be glad to see them brought back to JM days.

Marlin quality control when to pot when Rem bought them. Ruger will buy all the intellectual property of Ruger including machinery that will be replaced. They are purchasing all assets.

I completely agree. Ruger wants to get in the lever action world and want's to make a splash when they do. Ruger is not cash strapped like almost everyone other company. They paid from their funds the millions owed by Marlin. That's impressive in this day and time.
