What’s your concealed setup?

I definitely need a chronograph.

If 6.4g Unique from a 2 inch barrel is only pushing a 200g bullet 700 ft/sec, that’s gonna break my heart, because this load HURTS to shoot. That much pain merits at least 850 ft/sec !

7.2g Unique felt like it was going to blow up the gun, and drew blood after one cylinder.
I have a S&W 696 in 44SPL I load for and shoot a good bit. I load 240 grain plated RNFP's over 7.0 grains of Unique, and if I remember right, they were clocking right around 800fps last time I checked.

And thats a pleasant load to shoot too.

This is the gun, a 5 shot L frame....

I'd be interested to see, I as just going by my recollection with experiments with my 4" Redhawk and back-guessing the shorter barrel.

Looking at my Lyman 49th you're probably gonna need that 7+ grains to break 800 in the short barrel, maybe.

I don't mess with lead loads too often, just some plinking .38 ammo for my wife's Vaquero, so I could be way off.

I’m probably looking at 650 realistically. Fortunately, 44 full wadcutters from Matt’s come with all the expansion you need, built right in.

Ha ha. Gotta justify my carry choices somehow. Just wait til I bob the trigger guards — that’s when it’ll really get ugly!

Congratulations on your Holy Grail gun. I didn’t even know these existed. And it’s probably a three inch to boot!

Shooting a Sig 238 almost ruined me for revolvers. So easy to shoot. It felt more like a shake weight than a gun.

If all autos are like that, I don’t wanna know!
Honestly the P938 made a snub nosed J frame size revolver irrelevant to me. I can use 124-147 gr ammo, and get just as good or better velocity, and have 8 rounds on tap in a gun with better sights. Provided it runs reliably, what's not to like?

Fine with Carhartt overalls. Tight belt needed with loose fit wranglers. Specifically Chose the rm380 for flatness and weight. Dead butt anyway.
Back pocket carry sounds ideal in a lot of ways. Real easy to get to; nice smooth draw cause it’s patch construction, not like a front pocket.

Only in the sense that having second story on your house only makes you more likely to all down the stairs. Of course it is statistically true, but doesn't even come close to telling he whole story.

Anecdotal: I've carried a pocket knife for most of my life. I've been insulted, gotten into fights, some that I had no hand in starting, I'm aware how to use a knife... but I'm yet to stab anyone.
But studies show that stabbers are more likely to own knives than non-stabbers!

Don’t you care about stab-ees?

Sorry.

Yup, its a 3" and unfortunately, its ported, but, its still a good gun and a good shooter. Just wish they hadnt ported it.

As much as I like the 696 and 44SPL's in general, if I had to carry a revolver, Id go with one of my K/L frame 357 snubbies, or even a 4" gun in place of them.

Not in the least. If they deserve the poke, they'll get shot, stabbed, or a finger in the eye, whatever it takes. And pretty much in that order. :)

Every gun carried deserves an evil twin to back it up.

Something like this will do. :D

That or really long arms to draw weapon when your pants are around your ankles! ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is already a “what are you carrying” thread, but I couldn’t find it.

dear mods, could you please put this in the proper place ?

Current Carry — My personal situation requires:

- must be small guns (5’9” 150#, Florida)
- must be two of them
- must be ultraconcealed
- must be fast on the draw
- must hit with authority
- must look intimidating

Current attempt:

6.4g Unique behind 200g FWCs in a pair of chopped and bobbed Charter Bulldogs riding on Baramis.

Pics attached.

not a bad set up. my only concerns is one or both of them popping up unhooked when sitting down. the hipgrip I tried with a J frame was nice for walking around the yard but that's all. I found myself constantly "checking" it to make sure it was still properly placed.

regarding ported bbls and all that jazz. I love this one. makes shooting full house magnums like +p 38s. I did so from the pocket of a wind breaker, regular winter coat as well as tucked in to my side and shooting.... nothing caught fire but plenty of burn marks and one blown apart pocket. the other pocket just had holes as it was a more sturdy coat.

My favorite carry setup is a S&W Shield 9 (using the 7rd mag with Pierce grip extenders) with 7rds of 135gr Hornady Critical Duty, in a safariland OWB paddle holster at about 4 o'clock (sometimes I'll carry IWB with a Blade Tech Klipt holster). I also carry some pepper spray, a Leatherman Skeletool and a Kershaw Link Tanto. I also typically carry a Streamlight Polytac flashlight in an OWB holster on my left side.

I've got 4 more mags in my edc bag as well as a lot of other stuff.

I carry a lot (I didn't mention my phone, wallet, and keys), but it doesn't bother me, I like to be prepared.

If it has to be two guns, just replace (or shuffle around) the spare mag and knife with another 17. :)

Thats my daily carry, year round, and hides easily under one of my normal-sized tee shirts too. I dont "size up" my clothes, they dont look right when you do.

The draw is very fast and easy too.
nice knife

I take a similar approach as Howland does, knives and guns easily accessible for both hands.

There is a good chance Mr Murphy or the bad guy will see to it that your strong hand is occupied when attacked.

I carry one of these two 95% of the time. Both appendix. Both homemade holsters. I’ll only carry an uncocked pistol appendix. My right shoulder doesn’t like going up high enough to draw from the right hip concealed anymore. And, I can draw with either hand. Upside down and pull trigger with my pinky if I have to.

A Sig P239 in 357 SIG. I’ve carried it a lot. (I have a 9mm also. Same holster, hence the big 357 written on it)

I have no desire to keep up with two guns on me in every day life. Bathroom, walking around, sitting. Not to mention keeping control of two guns while running or fighting.

One has been plenty for over 40 years.

I have only carried a backup on a few occasions. Glock of some flavor IWB and LCP in front pocket. Since the .380 is the last thing anybody thinks of as hard hitting. I'm thinking if I had to carry two guns concealed all the time it would be two single stack 9mm's, Glock 43 appendix or 4 oclock position with one in a pocket holster. Or if ordinary movement isn't a concern two single stacks 9mm or .40's in your current appendix carry situation.

If you were open to making any concession and altered your criteria a wee bit for the sake of movement and comfort but still needed the tactical advantage of a backup gun I might consider a micro pistol for the pocket and a compact or even full size duty weapon that should get you in the neighborhood of 10-13 rounds of .40 or .45 or 13-18 rounds of 9mm. Just a thought.

I don't dismiss the idea of carrying two guns, I can definitely see the advantages it could offer in certain situations. But depending on what your daily range of activities include, for me carrying what you're carrying, the way you're carrying it, would not work for me.

ETA: You might also consider, depending on your situation, the extremely effective and easily concealed nature of a quality edged tool. A knife should never be discounted as a formidable means of defense.

For me, the 2nd gun doesn't take up much more space than a few dollars worth of change. Doesn't require any special treatment or attention for normal activities and wouldn't be an issue if I'm running. In fact, it's the one I carry when I'm running. I've even done handstands and headstands to see if it'll fall out. Hasn't so far.
4 tires have been just fine for most of my life. Still got a spare though.

hume iwb glock 26. sometimes glock 19 mag as extra. wanting to carry sig p365 but having trouble sourcing enough jhp to prove it.

A couple of comments: First of all carrying near or against the skin under a cover garment, especially in hot weather is ASKING for corrosion -- and while your gun may be stainless steal or coated, the springs are not. You definitely need a good holster.

Secondly, pancake holsters can easily be converted to tuckables just by punching two holes in the toe of the holster (either side of the muzzle) and using chicago screws to attach two Kydex reverse J-hooks. And in my opinion that's the best way to carry concealed.

I alternate between a HK P30SK or a Sig P365xl bot in 9mm. Carry both IWB appendix in a kydex holster. Ammo is Sig 115 grain JHP.

Philosophy: pistol should be easily concealable, carried regardless of "anticipated threat" AKA "good vs bad area" and at least 9mm.
Lightweight commander 1911 with two spare mags on opposite side of belt is easily concealed under a untucked shirt.

That's some real clean looking leather work.
