I like the Herter's Hawkbill grips. I had a set with the basket-weave pattern on a S&W 36 .38Spl that found its way to a new home during "The Great Safe Purge of 2019"... I sold a bunch of long guns and handguns off starting two years ago. When you don't even know what you've got, its hard to enjoy having it.

The button nose wadcutters look like some I get from a seller in OK. Really easy to load and very accurate.

for a good handload for the Bulldog is a 240gr. SWC atop of 5.3gr. of Unique.

magnificent duo of old school C.A. guns,

With a light load they are just like shooting a BIG .38 Spl. FUN. Unique is a FANTASTIC powder for the .44 Spl. Very good power levels with low pressure. Your gun and your brass last a very long time.

Im a fan of the Bulldog frame ... Charter has done so much with that frame size ..All these are built on the Bulldog Frame...

I have a soft spot for Charters over pretty much any brand. They just work.

My .45 acp Pitbull fills most of my big bore snubbie needs, but I still plan on getting a Bulldog. 44 sometime soon.

Its funny, of all the guns I have that are arguably better, the cheap and reliable DAO Undercover .38 spends a ridiculous amount of time in my coat pocket. Yes, I prefer the firepower of a .45 auto and my 686+ has much better fit and finish, but the UC is just so comfortable to carry and shoot sporting a Pach Compact grip.
Solid guns if one checks their snobbery at the door

I do too like my 45acp Pitbull ... but its hard for me to do with out a Bulldog 44spl


The 44spl is a lower pressure round .. and the
.429 dia of the 44spl vs the .455 of the 45acp allows it to be housed in the smaller Bulldog frame
If i get a chance tomorrow, I will post some comparison pics with the 45acp & 44 Spl Charter revolvers...

Agree 100% with everything you said

I'm just not a reloader, so a commercially available and affordable potent round like the .45 acp works best for me. Actually, I would probably go with the XL frame .45 colt bulldog over the .44 special as well simply because the .45 colt is easier to find.

Still, the whole small frame big power angle of the Bulldog .44 is a classic. I want one because that is what you get when you think "Charter".

From what I have heard, Charter will sell a 45 Colt cylinder and crane assembly for a 45acp Pitbull or vice a versa .. can be changed in just a few minutes

Im hoping to soon to get back in reloading ...
