UNIS GINEX SMALL PISTOL PRIMERS

I've heard reports of them being "hard." Ditto for PRVI partizan factory ammunition. I believe this primer is OEM for all PRVI ammo. If your handguns do well with PRVI ammo, they should do fine with these primers.

Wow, I remember getting boxes of Winchester’s for 100 out the door. Prices sure have gone up. I’m glad I stocked up.

Anyway, I don’t think I’d just go by what’s posted in forums. I’d get a 1000 (or fewer if you can) and try them out.

These days everyone is a gunsmith and using light striker/hammer springs is common place, as is loading for the AR and not properly reaming the primer pockets on brass with crimps.

It does sound to me like they have hard cups though. Just watch the seating depth and let us know how it goes.

Not trying to use you as a guinea pig, but it would be nice if you to volunteer.

From the link.. tcoz said:
Based on the number of people suffering misfires/light primer strikes, it appears that they may be slightly oversized and therefore difficult to get properly seated.
No experience with them myself. Would have to be 2 cents each to be enticing.

Well it looks like I'll be the guinea pig, I placed an order for a case over the weekend. Will be sure to report back with any issues.

FWIW; If I bought a brick, or two, of primers or 22s I might be concerned with cost, but in the long run "price per round" for my handloads remains unknown. The "money factor" is waaaaay at the bottom of the list for my reloading, and while I won't overspend on my components, the price is not the deciding factor. Plus, I won't buy primers or powder on line because of the "Hazmat Ripoff"...

Although it will be interesting seeing a real life reloader's reviews on new or different components. Information like this is always good to have on hand even if the product isn't needed today...

Loaded and tested 300 9mm rounds through a stock Glock 19 and a CMMG guard 8" pistol with a mil-spec fcg and jp red springs and an armspec smb buffer.

100 rounds of 100gr xtreme rnfp over Titegroup through the Guard was 100% function as was 100 rounds of 147gr xtreme rn also over Titegroup.

The last 100 rounds of 147gr/TG load also function my G19 100% as well. Did not test the 100gr load through the glock.

I noticed no difference in accuracy or recoil between my usual load with the same bullet, brass, and powder/charge weight. The weather has been crap here lately so I haven't had a chance to try my new chrono.

I know it's not the largest sample size, but for the price I paid and the rather convenient timing of the purchase I'm happy. I primarily bought these to use with the 4k 100 grainers and a 4lb bottle of TG as a plinker load for the Guard and so far so good.

Convenient timing, isn't that the truth. I bet you ARE happy. I have over 30k of primers that I know work fine, Remington, Winchester, Federal, and Fiocchi, so for me it wasn't worth the gamble to find out if they worked vs getting stuck with a problem child.
I'm really glad they worked for you.
When things get better, I may try them if they re-appear. They may be on par with the Fiocchi's, time will tell.
But I bet that price never comes back.
Thanks for the report.

Less than half dozen fail to fire on the first 5000 Large pistol primer, zero on 1000 small pistol primer.

Sorry....I read that to be an update, from a year ago

I used the last of them up a few months ago,. I had no issues with them except that I should have bought more.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again if they ever become available.

Man, I have been kicking myself in the rear for months for not buying those things when I had the chance.

Graf's used to have them all the time for- what was it, like $123 per 5,000? Plus shipping/hazmat.

Good grief.

The only negative I ever heard was they might've been a little tight to seat.

I'm gonna go kick myself again.
