..a carbine with interchangeable barrels chambered for 9MM/38 Super taking M1911 magazines. My preference would be a bolt action-easier to retrieve that brass, or some sort of bolt locking device.
The Savage/Stevens/Springfield "gill action" rifles allowed that.
I can't get over there just a big 22lr action, and are just strong enuff for the tcm. I looked very hard at getting one, but just dislike the action.RIA .22tcm bolt rifle with barrel swap to 9mm.
Id be happy with a 9mm bolt gun of any sort, preferably using a common pistol magazine.
There was a gentlemen on one of the milsurp boards I used to frequent who made up an interrupted thread switch barrel Enfield N1m3 in .223 and 9mm. He was in one of the ungunfriendly nations, either Australia or NZ, can't remember which, and had to make the most of one registered action. That would be a pretty cool toy!Couldn’t you take a Savage with a .223 bolt face and have a barrel chambered for 9mm Luger? Accepting a pistol mag would require some fabrication, but could be do-able

Its rear locking but I Think it would be ok for a 9mm conversion.I can't get over there just a big 22lr action, and are just strong enuff for the tcm. I looked very hard at getting one, but just dislike the action.
That's a good idea too! Getting it to feed might be easier with the rugers 3 lug than a regular two b cause thst third lug sticks down lower. I do kinda wonder if the bullet will make rhe long travel from mag to chamber reliably tho. Decent part of the way it will be loose.Could have a ruger american that uses the ar mags, and rebarrel it for 9mm and use the endo mags.

The easy way would be a bolt action blackout loaded down to .30 carb performance.....Next is a small bolt action built for the 30 Carbine
Perhaps an FR-7 rechambered? That or one of the shorter-throw Mausers with a re-cut .308 barrel blank. The easy way would be a bolt action blackout loaded down to .30 carb performance
Getting the bolt to grab the casings would be hard..... I think.Perhaps an FR-7 rechambered? That or one of the shorter-throw Mausers with a re-cut .308 barrel blank.
Or, a Number 4 Enfield .308 action done up "Jungle Carbine" style (the .30carbine barrel would not need nearly as much fettling up as .303 or .308, so the short stock would be less of an issue).
