it’s a strange action... like loading torpedo and wedging a bar of metal to keep it locked upI think I only cycled a Ruger# 1 action once in my life; it was an esoteric experience, as I recall. I felt like that was in a US Abrams tank. For those of you that don’t know, the falling block action is almost identical to modern US Army tanks. No BS; I’m a retired Army veteran

I should have bought more! I love handling these rifles, playing with the falling block and such... dreaming about a Buffalo hunt or MooseGot the same one from the same period.
That’s essentially what it is! Strongest action EVER! Research the huge Navy guns that shoot 2,000 lb projectiles, and you will see what I meanit’s a strange action... like loading torpedo and wedging a bar of metal to keep it locked up
I got them for cheap! back in the days when you could private sale on Facebook. the 7STW was new in the box, after some horse trading cost me $550Hey Mark; that is getting borderline cruel/mean. I can’t afford those excellent rifles. So beautiful and reliable!
And I am not aware of a stronger action. The falling block action is even used in those massive Navy guns! IMO, the barrel will give out before those #1 actions will fail
I have not chrono it yet... because why bother, it just hurtsSurvived my early efforts at hot-rodding as a new reloader. 400 grain remingtons at over 2200fps. And no that is not recommended. Wasn't recoil that made me wise up, it was the funny looking brass I was ejecting.
Ah, the 80's,...
always be proud of what you have! there will always be someone with more!Nope! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”! I have CVA Single Shots. Can’t afford a Ruger, but my 45-70’s are accurate, and get the job done!
