And BTW, who is " he?"

Some countries have a single criminal code so there is no conflict between the state and federal laws. If this were the case in the US, would there be fewer instances of different codes creating questions about what is legal, not legal, etc?
The possession of sovereign power; supreme political authority; paramount control of the constitution and frame of government and Its administration ; the self-sufficient source of political power, from which all specific political powers are derived; the international independence of a state, combined with the right and power of regulating its internal affairs without foreign dictation; also a political society, or state, which is sovereign and independent. See Chisholm v. Georgia, 2 Dall. 455, 1 L. Ed. 440: Union Bank v. Hill, 3 Cold. (Tenn.) 325; Moore v. Shaw, 17 Cal. 218,...
...is a political concept that refers to dominant power or supreme authority. In a monarchy, supreme power resides in the "sovereign", or king. In modern democracies, sovereign power rests with the people and is exercised through representative bodies such as Congress or Parliament. The Sovereign is the one who exercises power without limitation. Sovereignty is essentially the power to make laws, even as Blackstone defined it. The term also carries implications of autonomy; to have sovereign power is to be beyond the power of others to interfere....
...the basic right of governments to make laws and regulations for the benefit of their communities. Under the system of government in the United States, only states have the right to make laws based on their police power. The lawmaking power of the federal government is limited to the specific grants of power found in the Constitution....
...the inherent power of a government to exercise reasonable control over persons and property within its jurisdiction in the interest of the general security, health, safety, morals, and welfare except where legally prohibited....
... The several States of the Union are not, it is true, in every respect independent, many of the right and powers which originally belonged to them being now vested in the government created by the Constitution. But, except as restrained and limited by that instrument, they possess and exercise the authority of independent States, and the principles of public law to which we have referred are applicable to them. One of these principles is, that every State possesses exclusive jurisdiction and sovereignty over persons and property within its territory. ...
Something that would substantially reduce the carnage in America is an outright ban on all semi-auto weapons with a detachable magazine. Ten round mags are just a half measure as one can reload another ten in just a couple of seconds. How many ten round mags can you carry in your pockets? The possession of these weapons would be a felony and the penalties would be severe. Of course a government buy back of existing weapons would be in order. Single shot, lever, pump, and bolt action work just fine for hunting. Revolvers for self defense.
I know all the arguments. One of my favorites is that we need our assault weapons to defend against government tyranny. This is nonsense as THEY have armed drones and REAL weapons of war. The second amendment would remain intact, but all rights and freedoms have limits. Again, do something that will actually work, or allow the madness to continue.
Ok here goes...
We've tried half measures in the past. Magazine limits and assault weapon bans. This never works as there are already millions of these weapons and mags out there. We have reached a point in our society where drastic measures are called for. Back in the seventies, when I attended high school, many of us had long guns on racks in our trucks. Nobody ever thought of taking one into the school and killing as many as possible. Something has changed. Exactly what is a subject for debate, but the fact is, people are more violent and mentally unstable today than in days gone by.

How many of those countries have the right to keep and bear arms? Some countries have a single criminal code

Did you ever hear of a group of guys called the Viet Minh and later as the Viet Cong? They didn't have any drones, tanks, bombers, fighter aircraft or a navy but they gave our military quite a run for the money for a lot of years
Do you really believe for one minute that "the carnage" has anything to do with criminal codes?Do nothing and allow the carnage to continue.
Do you have any basis at all for that assertion?Something that would substantially reduce the carnage in America is an outright ban on all semi-auto weapons with a detachable magazine.
Have you ever availed yourself of any good defensive shooting training? How many defensive shooting instructors recommend revolvers? Also, consider this: A woman of slight build who does not practice shooting a lot can defend herself and her family much more effectively with an AR-15 than with any revolver.Revolvers for self defense.
It’s a large jump from, questions of legal structure to questions of gun safety. Some countries have a single criminal code so there is no conflict between the state and federal laws. If this were the case in the US, would there be fewer instances of different codes creating questions about what is legal, not legal, etc?
You want 5 years for brandishing?Mandatory 5-year jail sentences for any crime committed using or displaying a firearm. No plea bargaining, and no early paroles.
How many defensive shooting instructors recommend revolvers?
Bull.Ed Head, Clint Smith, Il Ling New, Paul Howe, Grant Cunningham, Rob Pincus, Tiger McKee, Greg Ellifritz, Chuck Haggard, Darryl Bolke, Wayne Dobbs, Tom Givens, Claude Werner, Justin Carol...
What are you talking about?Revolvers are guns, too.
Revolvers are part of your 2A rights, too.
Bull.
They will all teach revolver shooting for those who desire it, but most of them and many others recommend something else.
It is difficult to find a snub revolver course these days, and most defensive shooting courses so not allow the use of revolvers.
Claude comes the closest to actually recommending the use of a revolver for self defense. His drills so not allow much margin RE: misses.
Il Ling New teaches the use of large revolvers suitable for defense against dangerous animals.

A single code would work if you assume criminals will follow the law. In countries where it's harder to get guns, they will each other with knifes, bombs and other things. Criminals usually don't change their behavior because of laws.
How, pray tell?Wrong on all counts.
