I’m rather new here, 6 months.

But I’ve been on a few forums that included reloading over the last 15 years.

I’m not a kiss ass by any stretch of the imagination. But I recognize fairness when I see it, even when I don’t always agree with it.

“Walkalone” runs this forum. It’s the most informative (because of the members) I’ve ever been on.

He was attacked today. I will say in the minimal dealings I’ve had with him, he’s fair, and looks out for the forum.

Our dispute was over posting availability of reloading components at stores that didn’t accept online orders.

I complained that why attach a link since in was “in stock, in store only.”

Walkalone didn’t agree to change the rules that require a link be attached. But he left those my posts up for a day so people that were close to that store could take advantage of the availability.

In today’s market, a day is as long as a product would last anyways.

so he followed the rules, but helped the members.

I don’t know him, never met him, probably never will, but I think he does what’s best for the forum.....even if I don’t like a decision or 2.

DONE!!!

The work speaks for itself: this sub-form has 1.2 million posts and is the Fourth-most commented forum in THR (behind the General Gun sub-forum, Rifle, and one other). And Walkalong handles this himself.

Look - I don't play nice with others...probably why I remained a LEO sergeant for 20 years o_O (according to the wife). At one point I felt it necessary to take a conversation private with him and he spoke with me respectfully and with understanding. That is more than most folks who contribute much less then he does.

Leave the man to his job because he does it well.

So who would be Walkalone?

Walkalone is Walkalong's evil twin brother.
He is the one that spends all Walkalong's money on guns, ammo, reloading etc.;)

Funny thing was it wasn't the OP complaining that his thread was closed but someone else.

I appreciate all the mods do for us here, THR would not be what it is without good mods.

Being a Mod is a thankless job sometimes and sometimes it’s outright drudgery, but it’s a necessary task. I Mod’d on 2 other forums for a time and I vowed “never again”. I don’t have the patience or the mindset for it.
I am glad there are folks willing to do the job here and do it well.
I lurked on many shooting forums before joining this one. THR is a great forum and it is and will remain great due to the staff and moderators.

Okay, enough kissing up to the teachers…I am going out to play…on another thread. :D

I've been a member here for a few years and it is the second forum I go to each morning (mainly because another one is listed above THR in my bookmarks!). I can't remember any problems other than an occasional jerk, but they don't last long. Most of the time I agree with Walkalong and respect his knowledge/experience and patience. I don't think I'd last very long as a moderator on a large forum (too many people ask questions without looking anywhere else, doing any research, and those that demand only specific answers). Is a good moderator one that you never hear from?

I’ve been here a while and seen things. Most great, some just good, and a few I personally disagreed with but folks, this is the internet. Anyone can play here as whatever persona they make up, nobody knows the “real” you for a while, and words on a screen don’t always translate your thoughts, intentions, or humor correctly. If I’m in the mood for childish arguing, belittling, or any other such nonsense I have Facebook for that. Guess what, if I don’t like something I just keep on scrolling. If I really have a problem I message that person directly and accept the fact that I may not like the results but again it is the internet.
I think the mods here do a great job and I applaud them for their work.

A few months back when I was looking for help with reloading, a friend pointed me to here, with caveat that it was a no-nonsense place. Stick to the script and keep your nose clean and you will learn lots and get along fine. I have found that to be the case.

Have been a little surprised at the ease at which some threads get locked. Perhaps that is because some of the other forums run a loose ship and let things get out of hand? Perhaps some of the other forums could take lessons?

I have been here for a few years and Walkalong has always gave me and others good solid advise , I have learned so much in the reloading section and he contributed to that
This forum and the vast majority of members are top notch ,
Thank to all !

I became a contributing member because of the good people on this forum, primarily BP and Reloading. To me, complaining about the mods on THR, including and especially Walkalong, is a non-starter. Keep up the good work guys, all you can do is go with your gut, not everyone is gonna be happy about every decision you make and that is just the way it is.

I have had a couple run-ins with mods over the years. Looking back, it was a mixed bag of me not following rules at times, some misunderstanding, and some hard-headedness on both sides, but it has been fair and consistent. That is far more important than how strict or loose. Consistency and fairness are 90% of any compilation of traits that leads to success.

Thanks @kalielkslayer , all the mods here try to be fair, knowing we can't always please everyone, but we are also human, with all their flaws.

The members make THR what it is (a great forum), and they make the reloading section easy to mod. :)

Yep, all of the mods have done an excellent and fair job over the years I've hung around. By fair I'm talking leveled playing field for all. There have been some fairly heated events in the past as well as recently.

Yes they get a bad rap once in a while, but without them keeping order this site wouldn't probably last a month before most of the most knowledgeable folks pulled stakes.

Every good town has to have a sheriff. Walkalong does an exemplary job here and the other mods as well. This forum has specific rules and they stick to them. I have seen a few threads that have run off mision statment but they have warned and tried to get them out of the weeds. Generally they veer into the ditch in short order though.
You could not pay me enough to mod for any site so I say hats off to the great mods here. It makes this forum what it is!
