This guy really has the gall to call himself Jesus...

As a good fearing Christian man I do NOT like the title this person has chosen for his handle.

Ive never heard him call himself anything other than "Ian." Pretty sure only the fans call him that to mock his hair.....plus his omniscience on matters of all thing that go "pew."

That not his handle and he doesn’t call himself “Gun Jesus” except occasionally in response to other people who have jokingly given him that nickname.

If that’s your response to a joke/nickname, I hate to think of how you’d respond to a bunch of guys from Central and South American countries who are legally named Jesús :uhoh:

I see. Thank you for clarifying.

You should give Forgotten Weapons a chance. I dont care for most of the shooting stuff on youtube because its pretty silly. Ian does a first rate job educational wise on his channel. I had to ride my bike to the library to learn this stuff when I was a kid. Here is one that might interest you if you have not seen it...Good stuff

Cant really say anything negative about him. An honest and deep respect for firearms and history. He is not really a big fan of hand cannons but I give him a pass..... just him though. Anyone else gets labeled a sissy. Biggest negative about forgotten weapons is any time he does a lesson on some obscure oddball firearm the prices skyrocket.

The Gun Jesus thing is just a joke based off his long hair and slender build, he decided to embrace the joke instead of getting upset about it. He even cosplayed as Jesus during a Halloween shotgun match.

Honestly... If Jesus is a Gun enthusiest... Ian might be pretty close as far as the gun education thing goes. He comes across as a pretty grounded guy. That or he starts some sort of cult and tricks women into giving up all their grandparents old French guns. He has some sort of French Glockitis obsession. He does his homework on non French stuff as well though.

If you're going to get upset about someone, his one time buddy Karl a self proclaimed Satanist and general nut-job is the one to dislike.

Even Ian has distanced himself from him.

I was wondering why you see less videos with the 2 of them.

I have watched less of his videos after I discussion with him in one of his video's comments section. He was venting about being censored on social media, but when I brought up pro gun republicans being blocked online and in real life his response was "meh".

Lol i was somehow still subscribed to InRange on the Tube. Un-sub'd that [censored morally bankrupt comment lol]

Lots of weirdos who loke getting attention on youtube with firearms. Most of the bigger channels I have seen... the guys seem OK. They just dont have much information other than watching them shoot. I guess its just passive entertainment. Ian covers a lot of info from many aspects of firearms. His damascus video was all new to me. Some of the prototypes and short lived designs he tracks down are impressive.

That Paul Harrel guy has pretty good common sense content as well. I recommend him to a lot of people new to shooting what bullets are capable of. Military Arms Channel guy is likeable just doesnt have much depth in his videos. Lots of him shooting. Sometimes he has good stuff though. At least he give a fairly honest review. His remington pistol reviews cracked me up. Pretty good one on the BRNO 7.5 FK that has me interested.

Some of them are just Coo coo for coacoa puffs and just goof around for attention. Most just give blanket review... here is the gun... here are the features...watch me shoot.... now watch me run and shoot.... now watch me role and shoot... Please give me money now. Its a carnival act.

Ian is consistently excellent if you are really into firearms as a whole. He really is more of a historian and researcher than anything else.

That inrange Karl guy is nutty. I dont see things ending well for him. I have run across a few of those types and just stay away because they tend to take people down with them. Ian is no dummy and smart enough to distance himself from it.

This an original scope mount for FAL, SARCO may have some yet.
With few tools you can add a picatinny rail to it.

Yep, many of the big gun YouTube channels give no reason to watch them, it's just watching people act like clowns, plink at soda bottles, or take 30 minutes to say in video form what could be condensed into a single paragraph of text.

I dont want to be too hard on them I just like a lot of information and details. Even some of the shooting ones are fine if they are discussing ... shooting technique. Harrel kind of reminds me of a firearms specific mythbusters show. I guess consistently good content is the where someone like Ian really does well where as a lot of others are hit and miss. Your average new gun owner would find Forgotten weapons boring where as someone who is really into design and different systems will be highly engaged. Its all good. Different strokes for different folks. Most gun owners look at firearms like tools for self defense etc. where as a true gun enthusiast is more like a mechanic who wants to learn about the inner workings... history... development etc.

Hopefully the CCW movement serves as a sort of gateway to get people moving more in that direction. Ian plays a pretty big role in that....More than he might realize. Hopefully he never gets compromised because it would be a big loss for the firearms community. I check out different youtubers here and there to see whats out there but those are the two standouts I have noticed and continued to watch through the years.

I like channels like Forgotten Weapons, Paul Harrell and USOG. But I can't stand channels like DemolitionRanch, Kentucky Ballistics or Garand Thumb.

Demoltion Ranch is just the worst. He just comes across as so full of himself and cocky, thinks his jokes are way funnier than they really are etc. Garand Thumb is okay, he is your typical ALO in my experience. I can see how he can be offputting, but I don’t think he’s on the same level of D-bag as Demo. I don’t know enough about Kentucky other than he nearly died from an exploding .50.

I've met Ian in real life. He is a very good guy and his knowledge base is second to none.

Good to hear. I am not big on meeting internet or entertainment celebrities but I would probably have to take my son up to say hello. His breakdowns on rare and obscure firearms is so good I really need to take the time to put it on DVD for my youngest son in case he is ever erased from the internet. He has a little of that firearms enthusiest starting in him.

Agree... they are entertaining I guess but its more them performing than informational content. Thats fine I guess. Hickock is the same and has his audience. Demolition ranch almost promotes goofyness around firearms. I guess it draws a crowd but might not be the best way to represent the gun community.

This guy does some interesting content sometimes...
