Did anyone change what they carry today?

Preface: I can dress as I choose.
Everyday, everywhere legal, I carry a Glock 17 (plus spare mag), in the heat, in a "good area" and elsewhere.
Why? Because that is the pistol I shoot best, quick & accurate.
I carry a handgun I would prefer in hand if I had to defend myself, yesterday, today, everyday. (AKA ... doing it right)

What's up with the world today? Everything seems fine to me. :)

I started off carrying a Glock 43 size pistol because I thought I had to. I didn't realize how much gun I could conceal. I kept trying larger guns and was able to conceal a G21!:what: That got a little heavy so I settles on a G17 and have stuck with that size gun, no matter how crazy the world gets. I am more alert and cautious now but that's probably just because I'm getting older. So basically no change for me because I already carried a full size gun.

Yea, maybe, until they hack the power grids and a few other things. ;)

The world is actually a pretty small place anymore, and the bad guys dont have to speak Russian to take advantage and help them out.

Who is "they?" It sure is hard to tell who the bad guys are anymore. I wonder who really shut down our oil pipeline a while back? When I read the news, I blow off 90% of it because I've been lied to SO much. But no news makes me change what I carry. :)

Who are "They" I wonder? Or perhaps not!

An ex-coworker of mine was obsessed with "they" and did much research into who "they" are and what "they" were up to. Then one day he did not show up for work, he never missed work, and was found face down in a puddle of water with a great deal of alcohol in him. Funny thing though, he did not drink and had no reason to be where he was. I dunno. We cleaned out his locker and he had all sorts of books and writings on "they" but we did not look much at it, just tossed it for fear "they" might come after us.

I am of the mind nothing good happens after midnight nor in bad places that I do not need to be. In the areas I live and travel I am safe without any weapon today, yesterday, tomorrow. I think the concept we are under constant danger has become a political tool and is fake news. Both sides have fake news, it is called propaganda. I do carry most of the time and what I carry is more dictated by the climate and my seasonal clothing than by terrorist, various subversives and woke agents.

Not today, but maybe soon.

I've carried a Colt 119A1 for a smidgen over 3 decades now. I recently bought a Walther CCP-M2 in 9mm, but it had a manufacturing defect which required me to send it back.

If they get it straightened out and it proves reliable, I may be shifting over to it. It's a sweet shooting 9mm for 20 ounces and with an 8 round magazine, it would give me two extra rounds with a reload over my Colt.

I'm looking forward to seeing what it feels like to carry half the pistol weight I do now!

No... My carry is exactly the same. I am under no more threat of harm today as I was a week or two ago. Crime and violence is way down vs a few decades or even a century or more ago. We as law abiding citizens are more armed and prepared for a 1 in several hundred million chance that we will ever have to pull the trigger in a self defense situation... The only difference now vs in the past is the 24/7 internet, social media, and TV news blitz that goes above and beyond to convince everyone the sky is falling for the sake of ratings, views, advertisements, and the all mighty dollar.

While others are over obsessing, I will continue to carry EDC a 5 to 7 shot revolver while I live my life.

When I first moved to my current address (some 37 years ago) I would leave the house unlocked when going for milk or bread. Now I don’t dare and our crime rate is way up compared to 1984. This alone has me rethinking what I carry. Currently I carry either a J frame with a speed strip or a Sig P365. I am considering a Beretta 92x compact with extra mag, but don’t like the extra weight. If the crime rate continues to rise that may become my next carry.

If you change what you carry because of negative events in the news, then obviously you weren't carrying well enough to start with. In the grand scheme, chances are you are not going to be injured or killed by a Soviet or Ukrainian activist. You aren't like to be injured or killed by a Jihadist (and if you are, there is a grand chance a gun won't matter). You aren't likely to be injured or killed in a 'peaceful protest.' You are skill more likely to be injured or killed by your run of the mill crackhead, a rapist, robber, or a family member or other person known to you. You will be just as injured or just as dead as if it was done by some extremist, only it will barely make the news by comparison.

From what I have seen, the same people that uparmor because of new events will downarmor when said events are over, yet all the crackheads, rapists, robbers, and evil family and friends will still remain...

The world being what it is and not to get political but did anyone re-evaluate their EDC today? I didn’t change my choice but I did make sure I had extra ammo in my truck and had other things handier.

Nope.

That judgement to based on (my perception of) local conditions. No reason to change, at this instant. Last time I changed for that reason was a couple summers ago, when the country was going crazy, and there was an attempt to stir that up in My Little City.

I talked for two hours to my oldest son today and he gave me the crime statistics of my city, his city, his little brothers, and of the vacation home in Florida and also the change from the last survey. My city has indeed seen a big increase in crime, as I had felt.
The spare mag is getting another few extra mags added in the center console of the truck and I am contemplating to returning to a larger carry gun again, something that served me well in dire straits.

Shotgun is out of the safe again when I am home.
