Took my new ruger american out today. Not so good though.

I have two 7.62x39 and they are both tack drivers with Golden Tiger ammo. On my second rifle I did have to retighten all of the screws on the rail as it was loose.

I hope that's all it is. Keep us updated.

Im a happy camper now. Scope is fine thank god. Going for a 100 was a little tricky a storm was blowing in. Last 2 mags at a 100 i did ok. I didn't tweak the scope. I'll do that on a calm day. On the BX trigger i love it. Group was with Winchester 555 bulk ammo. Just at 25 yards on account of the wind.

The 527 also comes in an optics-ready, synthetic stock model. That's what I have and it is a joy to shoot. The set trigger helps me to get some great groups with it.

Ditto for me, except that I have a CZ, not a Howa. My rifles shoot better with hollow points than with FMJ. I've made up some handloads with Lapua FMJ bullets and even those don't group as well as cheap Wolf hollow points.

I have a CZ in 223, the 527 is a really nice rifle if you can get your hands on one.

My Howa does OK with the wolf hollow points, but really likes the 124gr Red Army stuff. I picked up some 123gr SST bullets to give a try at reloading for it. People seem to like them, hoping they work well.

Yep! I actually put three rounds into that one pigeon! I forgot to film the first two hits that took the top half !:cool:
On that last shot, I decided to see how long it would take to hit record, let go of the phone, get back on the rifle, push the safety off, adjust POA , and make the shot. It was just under 10sec total. Definitely not competition speed, but I think I can improve that with some more practice. :)

Hard to go wrong with any of those three, I have the Howa in 7.62x39 with a Boyds stock, the CZ American in a factory walnut stock, and a Ruger American in 6.5CM, and it would be impossible to decide which I prefer. They each have their strengths and weaknesses (mostly strengths). Of the factory Tupperware stocks, I like the Ruger a whole lot more than the CZ or Hogue overmold that Howa uses.
 
I noticed vertical stringing. Is your barrel hot to the touch when you are shooting? I have found that when my barrels get too hot as in not waiting for the barrel to stabilize temperature that it can string vertically. I wait a bit between shots with the bolt open for air to circulate in the bore. I get tighter groups with some of my guns when I do that. Just curious.

With movement like that you have a mounting problem somewhere.
 
Out of curiosity, what loads were you shooting out to 250 yards? Can't imagine the berry's over unique were getting out that far with much consistency, but not sure.

Glad to hear that getting the scope mount sorted out seems to have solved your issue.
 
The unique was 9 grains. With it i needed the bottom hold over mark. The 12.5 grains of Blue dot i could use set the hold over between to bottom mark and the one above it. 16 grains of 2400 the 3rd mark was perfect. The smallest gong at 250 is 12 inches. Factory ammo second mark. I have a Sig Buck masters scope.
