Gun screws at Ace Hardware

I've bought them there before and the clerks were sufficiently knowledgeable to help find them.

We have one of the new larger Elders/Ace and the stock firearms accessories/mags/ammo.

That's the first time I've seen them retail anywhere . I usually have to order them from brownells or someplace similar. I like knowing there is a local place.

Now I have to go to my local Ace to see if they carry that. That would be very cool if they did.

Our local ACE has had them for about five years now. I have also noticed that the other local hardware store has the same screw display and therefore also have the gun screws available. Very handy if all you are looking for is one screw in a pinch. I believe they are all flat head screwdriver design. There is no torx or allen heads.

It looks to me as if the second and third blue front drawers from the top contain hex and star drive screws. Your local store may not have ordered these alternatives, thinking they are less likely to be encountered.

bottom of the three drawers is torx head screws. Looks like for scope rings.

Going to Ace Hardware with and a good hardware guy working! it’s like a vacation! wish they had a tip jar!

Not all Ace Hardwares have the gun screws. It's one of those items that the merchandising people may or may not make space for. On the flip side, in my town, it's the True Value store that has the gun screws. Go figure.

Our Ace Hardware just opened up in the last year. It's in a building that used to be a grocery store so there is lots of space. They have some carhart clothing, some camping and fishing stuff. A few grocery staples and....THE BEER COOLER IS STILL FULL! I suspect most of this is because this store is situated right at the beginning of the Greys River Road. A major camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling area.

But, Do they have those pesky grips screws for SW revolvers?. Those always seem to be a problem to find.

I happened to be at our Ace one day when a guy was restocking the screw cabinets. He told me that he was independent and not affiliated with Ace. That might explain why not all stores have gun screws. Our store has them in a blue cabinet at the end of the aisle.

Bearden?

Note those are not Ace. They are just Hillman screws. Serv-a-lite also has similar gun screws. Most hardware stores have one of these. Not all, and Home Depot/Lowe's are deliberately "home improvement stores" not hardware stores, so don't just because they barely carry hardware anyway.

And for mail order, if you know what you want exactly, McMaster is the best. Great products, best website ever, buy exactly what you want.

I went to my local Ace Store and asked the salesperson for gun screws. He had no idea what I was talking about. After looking in the Hardware section there they were. Sitting on a shelf by themselves. Inside the assortment box was a few thread pitch gauges. Snagged 2 of them. Think I only paid 3-4 bucks for them. On eBay they’re selling for 20 bucks. Sometimes just need to look around the section to find.
