My local ACE and the one in the next closest town have quit carrying them for some reason.
It looks to me as if the second and third blue front drawers from the top contain hex and star drive screws. Your local store may not have ordered these alternatives, thinking they are less likely to be encountered. Our local ACE has had them for about five years now. I have also noticed that the other local hardware store has the same screw display and therefore also have the gun screws available. Very handy if all you are looking for is one screw in a pinch. I believe they are all flat head screwdriver design. There is no torx or allen heads.

Our Ace Hardware just opened up in the last year. It's in a building that used to be a grocery store so there is lots of space. They have some carhart clothing, some camping and fishing stuff. A few grocery staples and....THE BEER COOLER IS STILL FULL! I suspect most of this is because this store is situated right at the beginning of the Greys River Road. A major camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling area. Not all Ace Hardwares have the gun screws. It's one of those items that the merchandising people may or may not make space for. On the flip side, in my town, it's the True Value store that has the gun screws. Go figure.
Icky gun nut stuff.
I've bought them there before and the clerks were sufficiently knowledgeable to help find them.
We have one of the new larger Elders/Ace and the stock firearms accessories/mags/ammo.
Harden Valley.Bearden?
Well I know who to call now for some Ruger action screws!Yesterday I discovered my local Ace has gun screws. Good to know the next time I strip out a scope ring screw or something.View attachment 1075748
