I’m old enough to recall the old days, like four years ago, when, if I dropped a primer and it hit the floor, I’d just sweep it up at the end of the day and toss it in the garbage.

I just moved a bunch of stuff to find a primer (yes, just one) that rolled underneath and out of sight. Good news is that I found six of them, some large pistol and some small pistol, in the effort.

I sure hope that the price of primers comes back down sometime soon.

I always took the time to find an errant primer when I dropped it. Was never one to waste anything unnecessarily. Years ago I would freely hand out primers to get others started, or to get another reloader enough to get a batch loaded. These days I am a lot more selective where my primers go. I am not willing to drain my resources to help a reloader that refused to stock up when they had a chance. One of them even refered to me as a hoarder back then LOL.

Me too. Mostly because lost primers are typically found by vacuum cleaners.

i have green shag carpet (long story) in my reloading room. A few months ago, I found 3 that I was missing! I hope primers come back at $25/k
Your carpet selection doesn’t surprise me for some reason. You seem like a shag carpet kinda guy, Prius and all.

My workshop carpet is a dark red/burgundy thread bare wool piece from my grand parents home. I’m 70 mind you so this carpet was something like a wedding present from Kaiser Wilhelm.

Anyway, back to primers, I keep the carpet because it’s still serviceable and foreign objects like primers “pop” out visually. SS pins are easy to see as well.

i had about 250 primed case that i wanted to sell and i had to remove the primers to ship thru the mail, i removed them slowly and saved all of them. i loaded several rounds with them and test fired them with rounds i had loaded before. i could not tell any difference in the groups at 100 yards.

I a L was look for dropped primers. Like a Shepard for a lost lamb. Don't want any mishaps I did loose one, but think my pup saw it rolling accessed the floor and ate it only thing I can yhink of for not finding it.

Was at a flea market Sunday a seller had 3 boxes of primers for 15 dollars, said they were supposed
Turns out they were srp but really old stock as in cardboard packaging, one was Winchester western, the other 2 were rem 6.5's figure that they were manufactured in the 60's to 70's. Wasn't sure I could trust them and 6.5's are low pressure primers for 22 hornet.

I'm an find every primer person also. I don't like partial primer boxes.

Me too. But watching the primer links in the pinned thread in this forum, they seem to be mostly still headed up.

I don’t think primed cases are considered hazmat.

I long ago quit reloading over carpet. ;)

I do have a pneumatic vacuum for sucking up stuff in the reloading room though. I have seen one vacuum that was blown up after ingesting and igniting a live primer.
That’s quite a punch for a single primer to blow up a vacuum cleaner!

Did you find them with a vacuum or were you down there playing with your army men? :)

I had almost completely forgot about having to rake the carpet…that’s ‘70’s stuff or has shag made a comeback?
Alright, so I bought shag carpet to put into a photography studio I had. It’s super soft! So here the deal. Shag carpet is underrated for reloaders and gunsmiths…. Why? any primers or parts (ar pivot spring, 1911 safety plugger spring) don’t bounce off. The carpet just catches it! then you get down and pick it up! Everyone should shag carpet their Reloading room!!!
