You couldn’t convince a ripoff if it says, $350 ripoff fee on the invoice

Admittedly I was happy I didn’t get one of the green re-repark jobs. I probably would have sold it if I did and kept shopping for a better example. Even though the CMP is luck of the draw they rarely overpromise so anyone that isn't happy isn't going to lose any money should they decide not to keep what they get.

I don't have any problem with the lottery system or the one per customer rule. At least they're making an effort to keep it fair. There's been more than a few people over the years that have made a living reselling CMP guns. So many in fact they finally put a limit on Garands a little while back.

Got my RGN number, now to step 2 of the waiting game.

Earlier on in this thread was a poster who wrote that the 1911 he used during Desert Storm was re-parked and looked like a CMP service grade.

The re-park is part of the history. If anything it shows that the gun had been used to the point that it needed the face-lift. The overhaul doesn’t bother me at all. Mine was overhauled at the Anniston Army Depot in July, 1976. Bicentennial gun. I’m cool with that.

I also received my RGN today. 3502x. I will accept either a service or field grade. I'm hoping for worn parkerizing and even wear between slide and frame.

There’s is a YouTube channel from a guy named HRFunk. Most here have heard of him. Marine MP from 1985-1989. He got recalled for Desert Storm in 1991 and was issued a 1911. Mentions it in several videos.

The first surplus release of 1911 was around 1960s. Matching parts. I paid $ 45 to the guy that bought it.

In 2018, the CMP 1911s were priced at $850 rack grade; $950 Field grade; $1050 Service grade. These were the first 1911s released since DCM was turned into CMP 1911. This was due to pistol transfer laws if I recall, shutting down any DCM purchase of a pistol.

The first wave of packets brought over 17,000 orders, I'm unsure of the numbers for the second and third rounds but saw RCNs of 35k plus posted after the third round submission ended.

New prices went to $1050 Rack; $1150 Field, $1250 Service and an additional Range grade at $1100. Inflation is nearly 10% today... That's not a lot of overhead for a non profit organization to provide customer service and still provide shooting opportunities and competitions and training and everything else the CMP does. I am THANKFUL FOR THE CMP 1911 PROGRAM as I believe the program contributes to ALL their shooting sport opportunities.

I read somewhere that they extended the "buy in" time because of Ian. That's fair as thy've been pretty strict about the list in the past.

Buy one because it's the right thing to do. Supports a non-profit and civilian training programs.

How much money does the NRA spend on supporting WLP and his life style. Give it to the CMP instead and get something besides a magazine full of advertising and donations to a loser presidential candidate.

Agreed. The price tag didn’t bother me. Even the $200 increase wouldn’t bother me if I was buying now. I’ve spent a lot more on stupider things than this. I’ve never personally benefitted from the programs the CMP offers. I’m nowhere near their stores(although if I was in the neighborhood I’d surely stop by), and I’ve never seen the traveling air rifle range in my neck of the woods, but they surely do contribute to the community.

I was in the planning stage for a trip to the Anniston store and the Marksmanship Park when Covid hit. I have to get back on that. If the CMP does nothing else the park is worth supporting. I will would buy another 1911 if given the chance. I want to be able to gift each of my 2 nephews a USGI Carbine and 1911 to remember "Uncle Jim" when I'm gone.

Not getting an M1 Carbine from them is a real regret if mine. I remember the lottery they had a few years back. Didn’t get in on it. I should have. I didn’t repeat that mistake with the 1911’s and wouldn’t hesitate now if I didn’t already have one, and the $200 wouldn’t slow me down at all.
