Loving Full Size .380 (Anybody Else)

I got an email notice that Aim Surplus had received a shipment of the above noted Berettas, as well as CZ 82s (9x18) and 83s (.380). These days they tend to sell out quickly.

I had always wanted a Beretta 84, but couldn’t afford one when I was young.
When a bunch of Israeli surplus 84’s showed up at a bargain price, I had to get one.
Even so, I didn’t envision a serious use for it. Figured a I’d just check it out, do some plinking, and eventually use it for trade bait at the gun show.
However, a few range trips showed it shot really well. Much more accurate than a 380 has a right to be. I even rang the 80yd plate at the gun club with it.
It seems to really fit my hand well, and has been, of course, 100% reliable. Snappy? I grew up shooting 44mag and still shoot 357mag… The Beretta 84 feels like a 22 to me.
I find it to be an easy IWB carry, and in fact, it’s in my beltline right now, ready for a day of day off errands. The Beretta 84F is on my never sell list, now.

that’s a beauty! love the frame mounted safety too!!

That's fine for them what want them but it would not likely get on my list. I'm not a hicap fan beyond 8 or 9 rounds.
I have never been a big fan of guns built in both single- and double-stack versions (i.e. S&W 3913 and 6906) that had substantially different sizes.

When a gun moves to substantially greater magazine capacity without changing grip size, it has my attention.

The hot 380 craze was about 10 years ago before micro 9mms were as well developed. It was very odd. Even guns that didnt make sense to be chambered in 380 were made like a Charter Arms revolver. All you had to do was make it shoot 380 and it would sell back then.

Guns like the BDA fell out of favor because they were not concealable enough compared to the KelTec P3AT, NAA Guardian, or similar.

The Charter 380 is very new, and in fact it's the latest or possibly the last in their series of clipless revolvers for rimless cartridges (marketed as "Pitbull"). Their website is updated poorly, but it could not be introduced earlier than 2021. So it has nothing to do with the general interest in .380 that occurred around 2012..2016.

now that’s interesting!!! it headspace on the case neck?

Larger .380(in my case .32) Beretta/Browning/CZ pistols fwiw are fine CCW weapons if you ask me.

Everyone has different things they place in order of priority when it comes to CC'ing.

A .380 or even the .32 with an FMJ is still a deadly weapon.
Both have buried enough people to justify their use.
JHP offer mixed results, but I wouldn't volunteer to test the results firsthand.

If you shoot it well, and it's comfortable, carry it.
It's my motto.
I CC a Beretta 81 a lot because I know how fast I can run that gun accurately. It shoots so soft, and it's accuracy is repeatable.

I'm looking for a BDA to be added to the collection, and even a CZ83(in .32 ACP) because they are amazing works of art and function.

Carry on brother.

Seen a PPK with gold leave and scroll work in .380 and a CZ83 .32 at my local honey hole!

I almost had a PP .32 with box, until my cousin’s wife pulled a trailer park move on me…, I forgave her
