I have 4 boxes of 8mm rem mag for the 80’s (made in the old Bridgeport plant, live across there in the 80’s as a child), 150 unfired 8mm RemMag brass, and Dies coming in. Why… not sure

But Should I get a 8mm RemMag rifle? is it any good. I’m not a hunter but I like shooting odd cartridges.

Parent case 375 H&H magnum, the 338 Win Mag took what little wind in the sails the 8mm Rem Mag garnered when it was introduced.

Makes for a good big game rifle, but not really much more.

Have you ever loaded for a belted magnum?

I really wanted to get into the 8 Mag a while back, but came to the realization that it was much more than I needed for my type of hunting and would probably be better off with a .338 Win Mag if and when I decided to go that route.

I think it is a neat idea, but the limited components as compared to the .338 WM and the other logistic problems related to the 8 Mag made me pass.

I have two friends that I reload for who have the .325 WSM, which is a 8mm but not as hot as the 8mm Mag. It has been a great hunting round for them, accounting for several elk and a brown bear in Kamchatka

Yess Mark_Mark, you need an 8mm mag. I'm with breechface on this one, if you have ammo, and load for an stw, it's only logical to have the 8mm in case you get a chance to hunt something huge. That set would be a fun African pair too. And you probably have about enough ammo for a lifetime without a dedicated purpose for the rifle. Sounds like a win win to me!

I bought it on GB circa 2009. It had an after-market laminate stock that wasn't really my style. It also had the muzzle brake already installed. I found a sub-$100 factory stock on eBay shortly afterwards and it's been on there ever since.

I love 8mm (.323) cartridges. All of my 8mm hit hard, with this one being the hardest.

why do you have a 8mag… cuz they don’t make bc a 9Mag!

I had a friend that had one, let me shoot it once. He passed away about a year ago. If you just want to be different and like to tinker with stuff it is a good option. But it doesn't really offer much of an advantage over more common rounds. You can shoot a 200 gr bullet out of the 8mm Mag about the same speed as a 200 gr bullet from a 300 Weatherby magnum. About 150 fps faster than a 300 WM.

8mm is only .015" larger in diameter than .308, about 1/4 the thickness of a dime. It doesn't make a bigger hole. And the much more aerodynamic 30 caliber bullets blow it away as range increases with the 300 WBY. Even though the 300 WM starts slower it will catch up somewhere around 200-250 yards.
