What do you pay for FFL transfer fee?

Using a random NMB zip (33160), I see at least a dozen within 15 miles who list their fee as $30 or less.

I believe that if someone is asking $50 for a FFL transfer - he's basically telling you - he's going to take a profit whether you buy from him or not.

There are too many dealers that will do it for $20 - $25.

From my experience the dealers that really appreciate your business will charge $25 for the transfer. The ones that are just looking to make a buck and could care less about you charge $50.

In my area I can get a transfer from a good handful of individuals for $15. I won't pay any more than that. That turns out to be about $1 per minute of their time, and I'm good with that.

I recently applied for (and received) my Curio & Relic (C&R) FFL so I can have any firearms that meet the C&R criteria sent directly to me. I have not had occasion to use it yet, but I'm ready. That's a well spent $30 for anyone in to older weapons.

I'm very fortunate to have an aquaintance who's a retired machinist running a humble little business doing "light" gunsmithing. He processes FFL transactions for $10 and best of all I drive right by his place on my way home from work.

Before I learned about him, I drove 45 min. each way and paid $20 at a "country" gun shop.

Once, while my local guy was in the hospital, I called another nearby shop for a transfer on an
AR stripped lower. The guy tells me "I normally charge $25, but I'll have to charge you $35 for that"

Guy I use in Portland will do it for $20.00 plus the $10.00 NICS check. Cheapest I have found here.

I just went thru this exercise to buy a .22 rifle, I have bought quite a few guns from two three local shops here. Nicks Guns wanted $35...uh nope. Called Pannells and they wanted $45...HELL NO, so I went to Acworth Guns and Luther there did it for me for $20.00

He makes a buck, I dont get bent over and he sold me a HK USP 45 while I was there. I'm done with Pannells for sure. Pannells wanted to offer $350 in trade for a SIG 250 with three mags to get an XD-45 they were charging 509.00 for! They have maybe 20 hand guns total in the place and not many folks crowding the counters... you would THINK they wanted to actually keep customers. I guess not, oh well, plenty of places to spend money

$25 for one, $40 for two...never got to three Paperwork, fax, and background check included.

Lets see. One 3 miles away charges $45. One ten miles away charges $50. One sixteen miles away charges $50. One seventeen miles away wants $100!

Guy 8 MINUTES away wants $20. Guess where I go?

$15 at a hardware store.

In close proximity to NMB:

1. Interstate Armory at 27th & US-1 in Miami. Great guys, good prices. $25 transfers.

2. The Gunocologist, he's a gunsmith next to Pembroke Range. $25 also. He ought to be right near you, but he's only open on saturdays I think. Call ahead, he has weird hours.

Mine does it for free. He will not charge active duty military. I tried giving him $20 and he said no way. He does like PBR beer, though, next time I am taking a case chilled on ice with me and see if he can turn that down!

I think he charges the general public $25.

That's strange. I pay the same whether it's one gun or 5...they list them all on the same form and make one phone call. I wonder why some charge per gun?

I had purchased powder and primers. I was charged for the powder and primers and the FFL transfer was free for the rifle that I also purchased from gunbroker.
