FFL Transfer fee

Do I still have to get the gun shipped to an FFL when I purchase at a local gunshow? This transfer fee + delivery cost seems like it's just a way to steal money.

I don't think so. Usually the transfer fee and shipping cost is buying a gun from out of state (it then has to be shipped to a FFL, it can't be shipped directly to you) and the fee is to cover the hassle of the transfer paperwork (which is sometimes way too much I think, i've heard of huge fees in CA). If you buy from a FFL or face to face at a gunshow there shouldn't be any fees unless you are ordering something from out of state.

How about the background check and the 3-day wait? How does that apply when buying at the local gun show?

If you are buying a gun from an FFL, all Fed and State laws apply, gunshow or not.

A lot of States don't care if individuals buy/sell guns to other individuals. It is personal property being bought/sold. None of the States business.

My State of Maryland is not an example of this as all transfers of "Regulated" firearms (handguns and most assault rifle-ish things) must go through the State Police, forms, 10 day wait etc.

Laws are same for gun shows as anywhere else. There will usually be some non-FFL dealers selling at tables and in which case it is no different from buying from your neighbor.

You'd have to check your state laws on that. It's the same as buying at a gun store. The seller gets on the phone and does your background check.

Just because the gun show is local doesn't mean the sellers are?

Assuming its legal for out of state sellers to cross state lines to sell at gun shows I'd expect there are local FFLs at gun shows collecting cash and running NICS.
