That $524 was in 1978. In today's dollars you actually spent $1704.

In other words; accounting for inflation, what cost $524 in 1978 would cost $1704 today.

I'll bet the work has increased by 2 fold as I would think all that work would cost at least $2000.00 now not including the cost of the pistol.

I traded into a fairly nice 1971 Series 70 last year, approximate trade value between $400-$500.
I picked it up from the gunsmith last week, his bill was $1080, NOT including the MSH, grip safety, thumb safety, and trigger I obtained myself elsewhere. Several other parts were replaced, including sights. Reblued. New Hogue grips to replace the Series 70 dirty ooglies on it were another $54.

Get yourself set up now, in another 10+ years even if we can still buy 'em, prices will continue to rise.
