SOG Trident-how good are they?

Well constructed, great balance and sharp. I have a Trident Tanto and am very confident of its durability and design.

I also have a SOG Pentagon Elite. For the price on Amazon, it's hard to pick a Benchmade or kershaw.

I've had a Black TiNi Tanto for a while now and I'm happy with them. I heard they're great knives and snatched mine up for about $60 on Amazon. It's my EDC defensive knife. I would never pay MSRP for them though. SOG lists them for like ~$100.

SOG knives are great, some designs come from other manufacturers like the twitch and toothlock but the Trident is 100% SOG ingenuity!

it was the first knife i bought from SOG and it convinced me to try more im now up to an Aegis in plain and tanto blade, twitch, vulcan tanto and fixed blade version, flash 1 and 2 and the field pup seal pup elite, and even the tigershark. im pretty sure SOG is whats keeping me from saving up for a new handgun

and SOG claims that the MSRP on their site is to promote sales for their dealers, but 20 dollars is very good for any SOG fusion or not

only two recommendations, DO NOT open up your knife unless you have some knowledge on assisted opening knives, and make sure to watch after the pivot screw, it tends to come loose after so many presentations of the knife

20 bucks is a Steal for that knife.

Its a quite a decent knife for the price, though it won't look like that for long if you intend on using it often

I have the exact same style that I bought 2-3 years ago. A buddy of mine liked it so much he bought the digital version of the "desert camo" one I have. To this day the only true noticeable wear is on the blade near the pivot bolt and a few little specks of Guinness (I used my Trident pocket clip as a bottle opener for some time..), other than that there's some pocket lint built up in the safety lock which I should clean out...

Mine survived one trip to Iraq and back... still does the job (needs a little bit of sharpening at the moment). It's well balanced, the handle is a little long, but in comparison to the knife in the link, the recessed clip keeps the knife sitting in the pocket further and I felt more comfortable carrying it (especially when it came to sitting, as the Gerber was so heavy it felt like it would fall without the retention clip). The trident is light for it's size. If I had two drawbacks to list, I'd say the handle could be reshaped a little, and as I just checked their website, I have to withdraw my other drawback (I was looking for a tanto version of the Trident when I first bought it and they said they wouldn't offer it). Also, with a SOG, they have pretty awesome customer service. Not that mine has worn out, but if the clips wear out, someone I know was able to get a replacement clip within two-three days without paying for the clip or shipping/handling. Gerber charged me $9 + S/H to send me a new belt holster for my Diesel multi-tool!

I've got a pentagon elite as well. Fry's had a knife display but no knives for sale, none of the employees knew why it was there. After some hassling they sold me the display specimen for... I dunno, $25? $30? Something like that. They were pricier then than they are now too, I got a steal.

Holding the knife firmly in your palm with the four fingers having firm pressure, use your thumb to push the thumb stud away from the grip handle while driving your wrist forward.

Good knife. I like SOG blades. Have more than a couple. I keep a Twitch II and Access Card 2 on my desk for opening letters.... but then that isn't a big deal; I probably have 5 or 6 knives on my desk. I like the Mini-Vulcan and carry a couple SOGs in my field bag. The most useless one I own is the Tigershark. Have the Carbon steel and serrated version (pre-guard handle that is offered now). But it still gets a wow when I dig one out to fondle.

Ive got a ton of SOG blades from the Aegis and Trident to the Tsunami And Agency. I carried a Tanto Trident in Iraq and it was my favorite knife. I kept it razor sharp and sadly lost it on an operation in my MRAP somewhere in the desert.

i found my sog trident free, i was astonished that it was worth 110 dollars and it was in perfect condition
