Anybody use metal stamps to ID their SBR?

I have never seen this discussed. Of course it should be done in a well supported (supportable) area of the AR lower receiver. Any mechanical reason this would not work?

Intresting idea but I think that's a bit silly to do having a metal stamp cut to ID your SBR unless you're doing 10+ and even then wouldn't it just be cheaper to have someone engrave em for you?
 
I have a pal who stamped his SBR'd Auto Ordinance Thompson.

Personally, I'd have had it engraved, but he wanted to do everything himself.
 
dremel with a .050 carbide ball cutter

and some practice would be much better on the mechanical of any metal.
Used to ID mold parts in a mold shop with one for years. For very hard steels we would get a cheap diamond burr.

Make sure you practice, because the thing can "take off" in an unwanted direction.
