This is a secondary thread...I started one with a poll and left a lot of choices out by mistake. So no poll this time. Let us know...brand, action, caliber...how do you go about choosing what you want to carry?

My favorite CCW is my GLock 36. It holds 6+1 of the formidable .45. It shoots straight and has less recoil (as I perceive it) than a fullyloaded Kel Tec PF9. It has a natural point of aim. And it hides nicely in my IWB under a T shirt. Me like it mucho!:D

Re-Post

Maybe you can get a mod to remove the old thread and merge it, too.

Reposting now:

A single stack 9mm with a good trigger, made of metal with some nice wooden grips and clean utilitarian lines with no frills on the slide.
I carry an E9.

It all depends on the situation. Today it's a little cool out, so when I go outside I am carrying my Kimber Crimson Carry II .45 in my conceal/carry jacket. In my front pants pocket, I've got a S&W Bodyguard 380.

When I'm wearing pants that fit a bit looser, I put my S&W J Frame 642 in my front pocket.

Basically it all depends on what I'm wearing that day.

Around my house and property, because I don't need to conceal carry, I'll wear a large caliber gun (.45 or Taurus Judge with .410 buckshot) in a holster on my strongside hip.

It all depends on what I'm wearing and where I'm going. Considering I live in a hot/humid climate and often wear shorts and a t-shirt, I usually carry my P3AT in a pocket holster or my PF9 or LCR in the waistband. During the short cold season I sometimes carry my Springfield lightweight 1911 IWB or on my belt as clothing permits. I would of course prefer to have the 1911 in hand if SHTF, but it's so much easier and more comfortable carrying one of the smaller options.

I usually carry one of 3 mid sized Glocks with the favorite probably being the 32, good capacity and power in a reasonable sized package, next would be the 19 with the 23 being last on the list.
If clothing won't allow and I choose it to be concealed I take the P3AT in my pocket or around my neck.

depends on what i'm wearing and where i'm going. when clothing and activities permit, i carry my EMP. when clothing and activities don't permit the EMP, I'll take either my 238, LCP, or PT-709, depending on the size of my pockets.

once in a while, for the hell of it, i'll carry my cz-82 or makarov. used to carry the cz-82 a lot before i purchased my EMP.

Often depends on the weather and the activity,...but if I had to pick just one,..it'd be S&W Model 36 loaded with 5 rounds of .38 Special +P......it's sorta like comfort food,.....just too danged good to not be good for ya......and it makes me smile.

Kahr PM9, DAO 9X19mm.

1)Reliable, accurate, light, small, easy to conceal (even in a pocket) and shoots like a larger gun.
2)Relatively nice trigger
3)Shoots the 9X19mm round which is a very good performer
4)Has a striker safety
5)Doesn't have any external safeties or magazine disconnect
6)Allows me a fast reload if needed and the magazines fit easily in my back pocket
7)Ammo is relatively cheap and easy to find
8)Accomodates night sights
9)Durable and corrosion resistant

Oh...and it's black and I love black guns.

If I have clothes on....then my XD .45 Service model hides very nicely iwb.
14 230 grain pxd1 jhp with very manageable recoil makes a great combination.
A little heavy, but it works for me pretty much no matter what I'm wearing.

I can't legally carry a handgun off my property in this state but assuming I might do it anyway,,,,,

As I stated in the earlier thread, a 3" stainless Kimber Ultra Carry II .45 ACP
95% of the time; other times a S&W J-frame (442), Colt D-frame (Dick Spl),
or a KEL-TEC P3AT .380. The nature of my business dictates my choice for
CCW; along with the daily dress code~! :scrutiny: ;) :D

It's one of three for me, my trusty Springfield TRP for the days I can get away with a full size gun, or more typically by equally dependable Wilson Combat CQB Compact. My summer carry when I need something small and light is my Springfield EMP 9.

Almost always CC the S&W M&P .40c. DAO, it's stoked with 180 gr. Gold Dot HP's It sits very nicely in my new Kramer horsehide OWB holster. On occasion, I might decide to wear the S&W mod 19-3 .357 snubby DA-SA loaded with Federal Hydra-Shok 130gr. JHP. This is also carried in a Kramer horsehide OWB. I do like the Kramer rigs.

For some time I carried a Glock 36 in 45ACP but found that I could not conceal reliably at all times. I finally opted for a Kahr PM-9 (7rounds of 9mm) in a pocket holster.

Glock 36. I love how slim it is and 6+1 of .45 acp. I can actually fit it in my pocket in some pants. Other than that I carry a glock 19 aiwb.

THR does not support the breaking of laws, certainly not intentionally. Plus, why would you post online talking about breaking a law that can land you in jail for years? Just give it a few months and we might actually have carry in Illinois.
